Thailand's Never-Ending Pesticide Debate: Contested Future Sociotechnical Imaginaries Through A Relational Co-Productionist Lens, Henriette Erawan Kamphorst
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Since the introduction of the Green Revolution, the use of agrochemicals in Thai farming has sparked repeated contentious debates among local policy elites, addressing issues such as consumer health, farmer livelihoods, and environmental degradation. In 2019, this subject re-emerged on the policy agenda with the proposed ban of three key agrochemicals: Chlorpyrifos, Paraquat, and Glyphosate. In order to understand why the pesticide issue has remained on policy actors’ agendas for so long and still continues to be subject to ongoing debate, this research takes on a new perspective by adopting a relational co-productionist approach in the construction of contesting sociotechnical …

Perception, Prefered Channels And Content Of Youth In Bhutan Towards Waste Separation And Management, Thinley Lhendup
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study explores Bhutanese youth's perceptions, communication preferences, and engagement with waste separation and management, focusing on students at Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School (YHSS) in Thimphu. Using a mixed-methods approach, it combines surveys of 185 students with interviews from teachers and administrators to examine knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and systemic challenges. Findings reveal high awareness and positive attitudes among students, with social media and video content preferred for communication. However, barriers such as time constraints, inadequate infrastructure, and reliance on extrinsic motivators limit effectiveness. Key themes include Shared Responsibility, Challenges in Sustaining Engagement, System Effectiveness, Civic Education, and Policy Support. The …

Development Of New Radiotracers For Positron Emission Tomography Targeting C-X-C Chemokine Receptor Type 4 In Cancers, Piyapan Suwattananuruk
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study aimed to develop novel positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) imaging. [68Ga]Ga-TD-01 and [18F]PICO-F were designed as PET tracers based on the molecular scaffolds of two potent CXCR4 antagonists, TIQ15 and PICO. TIQ15 was used to prepare a bifunctional (BFC) to facilitate 68Ga-labeling while structural modification of PICO was made to obtain a precursor, PICO-Br for 18F-labeling. The BFC, TD-01 was obtained in a moderately high yield (61%) via the conjugation of TIQ15 with a chelator derivative and successfully radiolabeled with 68Ga to yield [68Ga]Ga-TD-01, a PET tracer. For 18F-based tracer, the …
Strategies Of Utilizing Sex-Sorted Semen To Improve Beef Cattle Herd Production And Using Lasia Spinosa Thw. And Zinc Supplementation To Improve Semen Quality Of Bulls And Boars With Poor Semen Profile, Supitcha Kaewma
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The objectives of the thesis were i) to improve the success of using sex-sorted semen and ii) to enhance the semen quality in low semen quality bulls and boars. Four experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis as 1) on-farm factors influence the success of sexed semen artificial insemination (AI) in cattle herds, 2) estrus synchronization protocols can be integrated in sex-sorted semen AI in cattle herd, 3) Lasia spinosa Thw. (LST) supplementation for improving semen quality in bull and boar sires with poor semen quality, 4) zinc supplementation for improving semen quality in subfertile boar. Study 1: Experiment 1, …
