Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Water, a green solvent in organic synthesis, poses challenges due to its high polarity, leading to poor solubility of organic compounds. To address this challenge, employing amphiphiles to create nanoreactors enhances homogeneity and reaction efficiency. Recently, catanionic vesicles generated by combining oppositely charged amphiphiles, have shown promise as alternative nanoreactors. However, their full potential remains unexplored. In this study, we designed novel CatAnionic vesicles derived from N,N-dialkyldithiocarbamates (DTCs), synthesized through a one-step condensation with excellent yields. The DTC amphiphiles in water formed vesicles and catalyzed Michael addition. N,N-didodecylammonium N,N-didodecyldithiocarbamate (AmDTC-C12C12) exhibited the highest reactivity for catalysis of Michael addition to …

Shape Memory Polymer Based On Copolybenzoxazines: Effects Of Chain Length Of Aliphatic Monoamines On Shape Memory Performance, Attachai Sriwattana

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This research was successful in completely synthesizing benzoxazine copolymers for shape memory polymers (SMPs) by mixing bisphenol A-aniline (BA-a) and bisphenol A-aliphatic monoamines of various chain lengths (BA-aMAs). Our studies have shown that shorter chain lengths will provide higher crosslinking densities, which play an important role in promoting the stiffness of the polymer, resulting in a higher shape-fixity ratio (Rf). While longer chains result in a lower crosslinking density and a larger free volume, thus promoting a higher shape-recovery ratio (Rr), Therefore, selecting the appropriate aliphatic monoamine chain length is crucial. From the study of this work, it was found …

Role Of Grb2 Intracellular Localization In Progesterone Receptor Positive Breast Cancer, Nattamolphan Wittayavimol

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Progesterone receptor (PR) extranuclear signaling mediates mainly through PR polyproline domain (PPD) interaction with SH3 domain of cytoplasmic signaling molecules. PR-PPD interfered with Grb2-SOS binding through SH3 interaction resulting in decreased cell proliferation and correlates with a good prognosis in PR positive breast cancer. Grb2 is a key adaptor molecule and expressed in both nucleus and cytoplasm. We hypothesized that change in Grb2 localization alters PR transcription resulting in better clinical outcomes in PR positive breast cancer. BT-474 breast cancer cells expressing inducible Grb2-SV402x (nuclear Grb2, nuGrb2) or Grb2-MYR (membrane Grb2, memGrb2) were constructed. MemGrb2-BT-474 showed higher levels of PR …

Metabolomic Analysis Of Lungs From Breast Cancer Metastatic Mice Models Treated With Thai Traditional Medical Formulary, Kotchanipa Rukruam

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a highly invasive subtype, leading to lung metastasis in 40% of patients with TNBC metastasis. Lung metastases significantly reduce median survival compared to other breast cancer types. Hence, there are efforts to investigate TNBC treatments, including modern and alternative therapies. The Thai traditional medical formulary (TTMF) is broadly used as an alternative treatment for Thai cancer patients. However, there are no studies on metabolic changes after treatment in advanced TNBC. Additionally, obtaining metabolites from biological samples is challenging due to the lack of a universal protocol for metabolite extraction. Consequently, this thesis aimed to first …

Contamination Of Antimicrobial-Resistant Escherichia Coli, Salmonella Spp., Enterococcus Faecalis, And Enterococcus Faecium In Commercial Raw Meat-Based Diets For Cats And Dogs, Rusmin Indra

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

This study aimed to investigate the contamination of third-generation cephalosporin (3GC)-resistant Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Enterococcus faecalis, and E. faecium in commercial raw meat-based diets (RMBDs) for cats and dogs in Thailand. Fifty RMBD products from ten brands were included for total plate count and bacterial isolation. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was conducted for the targeted bacteria. Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) production and the presence of blaCTX-M and mcr genes were detected. Additionally, E. coli phylogroups and Salmonella serovars were identified. The RMBD samples were contaminated by 3GC-resistant E. coli (80.0%), Salmonella spp. (70.0%), E. faecalis (100%), and E. faecium (84.0%). All …

National Survey Of Human Epigenetic Study In Healthy Aged Population In Four Different Regions Of Thailand, Siwaporn Nilyai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Healthy ageing has become a goal to help older people maintain good-quality longevity. Researchers have found that epigenetic, environmental, and behavioural lifestyle factors influence the variation of lifespan and healthspan. This study aims to evaluate the age-associated epigenetic biomarkers among older people living in four major regions of Thailand, along with their association with lifestyle and sociodemographic characteristics. 214 participants passed the criteria and enrolled from the southern, northeastern, central, and northern areas of Thailand. Sociodemographic characteristics were recorded through interviews, and blood samples were collected to evaluate blood chemistry and epigenetic markers. SIRT1 and HMGB1 proteins in plasma were …

Volatile Organic Compound Profiles Identifiled In Vaginal Discharge Of Bitches During Estrous Cycle, Amornthep Preechatangkit

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are the metabolites of microorganisms. VOCs are low molecular weight and easily evaporate at room temperature, all odorants are VOC. VOCs are different depending on health status and reproductive status. The objective of this study was to profile the VOCs in bitches during estrous cycle, and to compare VOCs between stages of estrous cycle and between pre-ovulatory, ovulation and post-ovulatory periods. A total of 23 normal, healthy bitches requested for ovulation timing as part of the routine breeding management were used in this study. All animals had a previous history of normal estrous cycle without any …
