The Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy (NFLA) Scholar Program sponsored by Sigma Theta Tau International and Elsevier has helped mitigate these challenges for myself and other novice nursing faculty leaders. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the Canadian diabetes health education program in changing the behavior of Caribbean immigrants in Toronto with Type 2 diabetes using the health belief model. There is limited information in the literature about this topic. Previous studies conducted on the Caribbean population's Type 2 diabetics did not include sufficient educational information to meet the needs of the Caribbean people to decrease further health complications. Background: Dance is a social and physical activity. It has been used therapeutically for thousands of years and was thought to influence healing (Ritter & Low, 1996). Research in dance therapy has substantially increased in recent years particularly research related to cancer and among healthy individuals. However, it is unknown whether dance impacts health-related outcomes among individuals with chronic illness. Additionally, empirical studies need to be evaluated to determine the effectiveness of dance as evidence-based intervention. This presentation reports on the leadership challenges encountered when nine geographically and experientially diverse nurse leaders formed a team to co-author a manuscript. Using Authentic Leadership Theory as a framework, the successes and challenges of working in virtual teams are discussed. Over the two year Board Leadership Development Program (BLDP) experience, we communicated our respective experiences via newsgroup and email. Our unique experiences and lessons learned as Fellows led us to develop a reflective perspective of mentoring which was presented at the 41st Biennium. Purpose: To test the effect of a muscular strength exercise program of muscular strength in older adults based on the Roy's adaptation model as an expression of the mode of interdependence of functionality in older adults.

Methods: A repeated measures quasi-experimental design with two groups, an experimental (n = 22) and a control group (n = 19) was used. Experimental conditions were: a 12-week exercise program to increase muscular strength using Thera-band elastic bands. When meeting a challenge, nursing educators produce innovative ways of transferring knowledge in their home environments. Originality is especially unique when the challenges of providing quality care are examined from a resource limited and global perspective. Searching for optimal methods of implementing knowledge transfer and facilitating the development of future nurse leaders, an approach was selected to promote local initiatives aligned with increasingly decentralized educational structures.
