Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
It is difficult to dynamically assess the runtime trustworthiness of a software program. Improperly validated user input is the underlying root cause for a wide variety of attacks on applications. This paper proposes an approach for constructing a trusted software behaviour model related with the input data for identifying and tracking the insecure information flows based on dynamic tainting analysis and dynamic slicing technology. It can tag and track user input at runtime and prevents its improper use to maliciously affect the execution of the program. We regard an instruction as a basic analysis unit and focus on information flow …

New Clone Particle Swarm Optimization-Based Particle Filter Algorithm And Its Application, Yuming Bo, Zhimin Chen, Jie Zhang, Jianliang Zhu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A new particle filter algorithm based on new Clone particle swarm optimization(NCPSO-PF) is presented in this paper in order to solve the problem of low precision and complicated calculation of particle filter based on particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSO-PF). The algorithm enables the particles to fit the environment better and then reach the goal of global optimization through orthogonal initialization, clonal selection and local searching of self-learning. Finally different models are used for simulation experiment and the results indicate that this new algorithm improves the operation speed and precision of practical engineering application.

Mapping Composition Combining Schema And Data Level Heterogeneity In Peer Data Sharing Systems, Md. Anisur Rahman, Mehedi Masud
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The mapping semantics that combines the schema-level and the data-level mappings is called bi-level mappings. Bi-level mappings enhance data sharing overcoming the limitations of the non-combined approaches. This paper presents an algorithm for composing two bi-level mappings by using tableaux. Composition of mappings between peers has several computational advantages in a peer data management system, such as yielding more efficient query translation, pruning redundant paths, and better query execution plans. We also present a distributed algorithm for computing direct mapping between two end peers of a series of peers connected by a chain of mappings.

Towards More Reliable Fixed Phase Quantum Search Algorithm, Ahmed Younes
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Building quantum devices using fixed operators is a must to simplify hardware construction of a quantum computer. Quantum search engine is not an exception. In this paper, a fixed phase quantum search algorithm that searches for $M$ matches in an unstructured list of size $N$ will be proposed. Fixing phase shifts to $1.91684\pi$ in the standard amplitude amplification will make the minimum probability of success is 99.58% in O(sqrt{N/M}) for 0

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The digamma function is defined for $x>0$ as a locally summable function on the real line by $$\psi(x)=-\gamma+\int_0^{\infty}\frac{e^{-t}-e^{-xt}}{1-e^{-t}}\,dt\,.$$ In this paper we use the neutrix calculus to extend the definition for digamma function for the negative integers. Also we consider the derivatives of the digamma function for negative integers.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Packet classification is an essential function for next-generation Internet routers to provide high quality of service. Packet classification using multiple header fields is a challenging problem that should be performed at wire speed for all incoming packets. This paper proposes a novel mathematical framework for packet classification problem. Then the priority area-based quad-tree (PAQT) packet classification algorithm combining priority search and recursive space decomposition is formally described using the framework. The validity of the PAQT algorithm is mathematically proved for theoretical justification. The proposed mathematical framework can be applied to other packet classification algorithms for formal description and theoretical justification. …

Taylor Series Coefficients Of The Hp-Polynomial As An Invariant For Links In The Solid Torus, K. Bataineh
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
We show that the coe±cients of a reformulation of a Taylor series expansion of the Hoste and Pryzyticki polynomial are Vassiliev invariants. We also show that many other reformulations of the Taylor series expansion have coe±cients that are Vassiliev invariants. We charecterize the ¯rst two coe±cients b1 0(t) and bL 1 (t) for one of these expan- sions. Moreover, the second coe±cient bL 1 (t); which is a type-one Vassiliev invariant, is given two explicit computational formulas, which are easy to calculate. bL 1 (t) is used to give a lower bound for the crossing number of a knot of …
Hopf Bifurcations In A Delayed-Energy-Based Model Of Capital Accumulation, Carlo Bianca, Massimiliano Ferrara, Luca Guerrini
Hopf Bifurcations In A Delayed-Energy-Based Model Of Capital Accumulation, Carlo Bianca, Massimiliano Ferrara, Luca Guerrini
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Building on a contribution by Dalgaard and Strulik [C.L. Dalgaard and H. Strulik, Resource and Energy Economics 33, 782 (2011)], this paper deals with the mathematical modelling for an economy viewed as a transport network for energy in which the law of motion of capital occurs with a time delay. By choosing time delay as a bifurcation parameter, it is proved that the system loses stability and a Hopf bifurcation occurs when time delay passes through critical values. An important scenario arising from the analysis is the existence of limit cycles generated by supercritical Hopf bifurcations. The results are of …

Chaos In A Fractional-Order Neutral Differential System, Yong Feng Et Al
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, chaos in fractional-order neutral delay differential equation (NDDE) is discussed. Chaos in the system is illustrated by presenting its waveform graphs, states diagrams and largest Lyapunov exponent. The largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) and the LLE of the system with different parameters are derived. In addition, we compare the fractional-order with integer NDD systems, and find that the convergence speed of the synchronization fraction system is faster. We also get the conclusion that the fractional NND system has better anti-interference ability.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
By introducing a parameter, we establish in this paper a generalization of the companion of Ostrowski-like type integral inequality for mappings whose second derivatives belong to L1-spaces. Our result in special cases not only recapture known results, but also give a smaller estimator than that of the known results. Some applications to composite quadrature rules in numerical integration and to probability density functions are also given.

Backward Bifurcation And Optimal Control Of A Vector Borne Disease, Abid Ali Lashari, Khalid Hattaf, Gul Zaman, Xue-Zhi Li
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This paper deals with a simple mathematical model for the transmission dynamics of a vector-borne disease that incorporates both direct and indirect transmission. The model is analyzed using dynamical systems techniques and it reveals the backward bifurcation to occur for some range of parameters. In such cases, the reproduction number does not describe the necessary elimination effort of disease rather the effort is described by the value of the critical parameter at the turning point. The model is extended to assess the impact of some control measures, by re-formulating the model as an optimal control problem with density-dependent demographic parameters. …

On Existence-Uniqueness Of The Solution In A Nonlinear Biot’S Model, Ali Tavakoli, Massimiliano Ferronato
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The response of elastic porous media under applied loads consists of an instantaneous deformation followed by a time dependent consolidation process associated with the drainage of the pore fluid. In the simulation of the swelling of elastic cartilagineous tissues, the permeability tensor of the porous medium depends on the strain, thus resulting in a nonlinear model. In this paper, we present a nonlinear one dimensional Biot’s model and prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution of this model. Appropriate boundary conditions required for the uniqueness of the solution are to be introduced. Then, the Galerkin method is used to …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In order to reduce power consumption in disk-based storage systems, based on the definition of multiple power states, a lot of efforts focus on power consumption management mechanisms which can be developed to allow system software to control transitions between the power states. But, little work studies energy consumption and performance metrics of I/O systems through the transition probability among different disk modes. In this paper, we define the transition probability mathematically from active mode to idle mode, and propose a novel analytical approach to evaluate energy consumption and performance metrics, such as queue length, throughput, response time. Our proposed …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we provide a maximum norm analysis of an overlapping Schwarz method on non-matching grids for parabolic quasi-variational inequalities related to impulse control problem with the mixed boundary conditions. The parabolic quasi-variational inequalities are transformed into elliptic coercive quasi variational inequalities. Than we provide that the discretization on every sub-domain converges in uniform norm. Furthermore a result of asymptotic behavior in uniform norm is given.

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we propose a novel codebook for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Rician fading channels. While the most conventional codebooks are designed in Rayleigh fading channels, we design a hybrid codebook which combines discrete Fourier transform matrix-based codebook for MIMO Rayleigh fading channels and array matrix-based codebook for MIMO line-of- sight channels. Especially, a backhaul link between base station and relay station can be a good target MIMO channels for the proposed codebook. Link-level simulations performed in a MIMO-OFDM system show that the proposed hybrid codebook outperforms the conventional codebooks when the K factor of Rician distribution is between 0:28 …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we investigated controllability of a stochastic partial equation driven by Poisson random measure. The stochastic equation was presented as a stochastic evolution equation which is an abstract formulation for stochastic partial equations. Using semigroup theory, we consider the mild solution of stochastic equation. And then the successive approximations method is used to consider the controllability in this paper. An application to a Parabolic SPDE is given in the last section of the paper.
Secure And Lightweight Authentication Protocol For Mobile Rfid Privacy, Hyeong-Chan Lee, Taeyang Eom, Jeong Hyun Yi
Secure And Lightweight Authentication Protocol For Mobile Rfid Privacy, Hyeong-Chan Lee, Taeyang Eom, Jeong Hyun Yi
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A mobile RFID system is a radio frequency identification technology that allows users to read the information on its tags. When this free reading function is combined with a mobile RFID system featuring radio frequency identification, it may violate an individuals privacy. This is because others may obtain personal information by reading the tags. In addition, user tracking can be a problem, because the fixed ID values of tags can be traced in network segments. Although various solutions have previously been proposed to resolve this RFID privacy problem, most of these solutions involve numerous calculations within the tags. Therefore, these …

An Optimized Symmetric 8-Step Semi-Embedded Predictor-Corrector Method For Ivps With Oscillating Solutions, G. A. Panopoulos, T. E. Simos
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we present a new optimized symmetric eight-step semi-embedded predictor-corrector method (SEPCM) with minimal phase-lag. The method is based on the symmetric multistep method of Quinlan-Tremaine [1], with eight steps and eighth algebraic order and is constructed to solve IVPs with oscillating solutions. We compare the new method to some recently constructed optimized methods and other methods from the literature. We measure the efficiency of the methods and conclude that the new method with minimal phase-lag is the most efficient of all the compared methods and for all the problems solved.
Entropy And Average Cost Of Auh Codes, V. Munteanu, Daniela Tarniceriu, Gheorghe Zaharia
Entropy And Average Cost Of Auh Codes, V. Munteanu, Daniela Tarniceriu, Gheorghe Zaharia
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we address the class of anti-uniform Huffman (AUH) codes, also named unary codes, for sources with finite and infinite alphabet, respectively. Geometric, quasi-geometric, Fibonacci and exponential distributions lead to anti-uniform sources for some ranges of their parameters. Huffman coding of these sources results in AUH codes. We prove that, in general, sources with memory are obtained as result of this encoding. For these sources we attach the graph and determine the transition matrix between states, the state probabilities and the entropy. We also compute the average cost for these AUH codes.
The Cai Model With Time Delay: Existence Of Periodic Solutions And Asymptotic Analysis, Carlo Bianca, Massimiliano Ferrara, Luca Guerrini
The Cai Model With Time Delay: Existence Of Periodic Solutions And Asymptotic Analysis, Carlo Bianca, Massimiliano Ferrara, Luca Guerrini
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The economic growth model with endogenous labor shift under a dual economy proposed by Cai [Applied Mathematics Letters 21, 774-779 (2008)] is generalized in this paper by introducing a time delay in the physical capital. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, it is proved that the delayed model has unique nonzero equilibrium and a Hopf bifurcation is proven to exist as the delay crosses a critical value. Moreover the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions are investigated in this paper by applying the center manifold theorem and the normal form theory.

Nonlinear Pedestrian-Flow Model: Uniform Wellposedness And Global Existence, Christian Dogbe
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This paper is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and propagation of monotonous properties for a certain class of Cauchy problems for first-order Hamilton-Jacobi equations for which initial data is a gradient function. In particular, we show that the monotonicity properties are propagated under certain assumptions. The main result is gained by the method of characteristics and a priori estimates under a monotonicity criterion. Applications of equations studying here refer to control problems in crowd dynamics.

Nested Inequalities Among Divergence Measures, Inder J. Taneja
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we have considered an inequality having 11 divergence measures. Out of them three are logarithmic such as Jeffryes-Kullback-Leiber [4] [5] J-divergence. Burbea-Rao [1] Jensen-Shannon divergence and Taneja [7] arithmetic-geometric mean divergence. The other three are non-logarithmic such as Hellinger discrimination, symmetric A2?divergence, and triangular discrimination. Three more are considered are due to mean divergences. Pranesh and Johnson [6] and Jain and Srivastava [3] studied different kind of divergence measures. We have considered measures arising due to differences of single inequality having 11 divergence measures in terms of a sequence. Based on these differences we have obtained many inequalities. …

An A-semiring has commutative multiplication and the property that every proper ideal B is contained in a prime ideal P, with pB, the intersection of all such prime ideals. In this paper, we define homogeneous ideals and their radicals in a graded semiring R. When B is a proper homogeneous ideal in an A-semiring R, we show that pB is homogeneous whenever pB is a k-ideal.We also give necessary and sufficient conditions that a homogeneous k-ideal P be completely prime (i.e., F 62 P;G 62 P implies FG 62 P) in any graded semiring. Indeed, we may restrict F and …
