Study Of Four Types Of Learning Bayesian Networks Cases, Yonghui Cao

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

As the combination of parameter learning and structure learning, learning Bayesian networks can also be examined, Parameter learning is estimation of the dependencies in the network. Structural learning is the estimation of the links of the network. In terms of whether the structure of the network is known and whether the variables are all observable, there are four types of learning Bayesian networks cases. In this paper, first introduce two cases of learning Bayesian networks from complete data: known structure and unobservable variables and unknown structure and unobservable variables. Next, we study two cases of learning Bayesian networks from incomplete …

A Note On The Bounded Solutions To X′′+C(T, X, X′)+Q(T)B(X) = F (T), Cemil Tunç

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Kroopnick (2010) discussed the bounded solutions of certain non-autonomous differential equations of the second order by using the integral test. In this paper, instead of the integral test, we study the results of Kroopnick [9] by using the Liapunov’s function approach. We compare the established results with that of Kroopnick [9]. We also give some additional results on the equi-bounded solutions and uniformly-bounded solutions, and an example is given for the illustrations.

A Two-Layer Geo-Cloud Based Dynamic Replica Creation Strategy, Zhen Ye, Shanping Li, Junzan Zhou

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

To improve data availability and reduce user access latency, geo-cloud based data replication is widely used in large global Web sites, such as Facebook. However, as the popularity of data is different and will change as time goes by, simple static replica creation strategies that assign the same number of replicas to all data, never changing thereafter, are not suitable. To this issue, we propose a two-layer geo-cloud based dynamic replica creation strategy called TGstag. TGstag addresses the issue with twofold: policy constraint heuristic inter-datacenter replication and load aware adaptive intra-datacenter replication. TGstag aims to minimize both cross-datacenter bandwidth consumption …

Representation And Symbolization Of Motion Captured Human Action By Locality Preserving Projections, Sang Ryong Lee, Geun Sub Heo, Choon-Young Lee

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Human motion analysis and assessment are important in determining Parkinsons disease and stroke, or in measuring skill quality in basic motions. Reduced space is useful in representing motion segments and finding basic behavioral patterns for humanoid robot control using the modularized approach. In the current paper, we represent motion-captured data of human action in a reduced space of nonlinear degrees of freedom in which the original motion is characterized. First, we represent high-dimensional data, such as motion sequence of the position of joints in Cartesian space, in a reduced space using the locality preserving projection (LPP) method. Second, we find …

Fuzzy Neural Network-Based Time Delay Prediction For Networked Control Systems, Chang-Wook Han Jan 2014

Fuzzy Neural Network-Based Time Delay Prediction For Networked Control Systems, Chang-Wook Han

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In networked control systems, the varying transmission time delay of the transmitting signal is unavoidable. If the varying transmission time delay exceeds the fixed sampling time, the system will be unstable. To solve this problem, in this paper, the logicbased fuzzy neural networks are applied to the prediction of transmission time delay. The predicted time delay is used as a sampling period of the networked control systems. To show the usability of the proposed method, the transmission time delay data are collected from the real system, and these collected data are used to train and test the logic-based fuzzy neural …

Adaptive Lossless Prediction Based Image Compression, Raka Jovanovic, Rudolph A. Lorentz Jan 2014

Adaptive Lossless Prediction Based Image Compression, Raka Jovanovic, Rudolph A. Lorentz

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Predictive methods of image compression traditionally visit the pixels to be compressed in raster scan order, making a prediction for that pixel and storing the difference between the pixel and its prediction. We introduce a new predictive lossless compression method in which the order in which the pixels are visited is determined using a predictor based on previously known pixel values. This makes it possible to reconstruct the image without storing this path. In our tests on standard benchmark images; we show that our approach gives a significant improvement to row wise use of one or two dimensional predictors and …

Self-Repair Of Cooperation Network Under Nodes Failure, Yaofeng Zhang, Renbin Xiao Jan 2014

Self-Repair Of Cooperation Network Under Nodes Failure, Yaofeng Zhang, Renbin Xiao

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

To further study the influences of nodes failure on the total fitness degree and the cooperative ratio in cooperation network, we established the cooperation network model firstly, and then, the update rules of individual strategy and the rules of networks selfrepair are constructed. The process of self-repair in cooperation network under nodes failure is analyzed by the agent-based simulation experiments. The results show that the nodes failure not only reduces the total fitness degree, but also reduces the cooperative ratio in the cooperation network. However, by introducing the self-repair rules, the emergence of a few new cooperative nodes can soon …

The Analysis Method About Change Region Of Process Model Based On Module, Xianwen Fang, Lu Liu, Xiangwei Liu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Business process management is a common approach of analyzing evolution and formulation of process models. But it is inevitable to come about the change problem of process models in BPMN, so that quickly and accurately seeking the change region of process models is the key thing of BPMN. Existing research is mainly dependent on the target model, and seeks the change region of process models by fixing the observation points. However, on the one hand, this way needs to compare with the target model. On the other hand, by static analysis, it can not quickly and accurately seek the change …

Delay Behavior Of On-Off Scheduling: Extending Idle Periods, Allen Roginsky, Ken Christensen, Mehrgan Mostowfi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

On-off scheduling of systems that have the ability to sleep can be used to extend system idle periods and enable greater opportunities for energy savings from sleeping. In this paper, we achieve a theoretical understanding of the delay behavior of on-off scheduling as it may apply to communications links and other systems capable of sleeping. We consider a single-server coalescing queue with a scheduler that schedules on-off periods for the server in order to extend idle periods of the downstream link. At the start of an off period (duration To f f ) the server stops serving jobs immediately if …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

This paper concerns the oscillation of solutions to the second order non-linear dynamic equation (r(t)xD (t))D + p(t) f (xs (t))g(xD (t)) = 0 on a time scale T which is unbounded above. By using a generalized Riccati transformation and integral averaging technique, we establish some new sufficient conditions which ensure that every solution of this equation oscillates.

Optimizing Dns Server Selection, Zheng Wang, Rui Wang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

In DNS zone delegation, the NS resource records of the delegated domain appear in both the parent and child zones, which complicates the domain name resolution procedure especially for server selection. In this paper, we investigate the recursive resolution mechanism for the delegated domain and the necessary operations. As there are no specifications for such resolution, we provide some recommendations such as NS record substitution mechanism. Furthermore, we analyze the delegation impacts on server selection as the NS records are obtained from both parent and child zone. We propose an integrated sever selection procedure to handle the lame delegation and …

A Topic Detection Approach Through Hierarchical Clustering On Concept Graph, Xiaohui Huang, Xiaofeng Zhang, Yunming Ye, Shengchun Deng, Xutao Li

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Topic detection and tracking (TDT) algorithms have long been developed for the discovery of topics. However, most existing TDT algorithms suffer from paying less attention to: (1) temporal distance between a pair of topics; (2) the mutual effect between highly correlated topic terms. In this paper, we proposed a novel topic detection approach by applying hierarchical clustering on the constructed concept graph (HCCG), which is able to solve aforementioned shortcomings simultaneously. In this approach, the concept is first defined as well as the concept behavior curve. Then, the temporal graph is constructed with concept as vertexes and connected by the …

Video Forensic Marking Algorithm Using Peak Position Modulation, Jihah Nah, Jongweon Kim, Jaeseok Kim

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Forensic marking, a type of watermarking, is an efficient means of detecting copyright violation and tracing unauthorized access to digital content. In this paper, a new video forensic marking algorithm is proposed which uses peak position modulation (PPM) and can embed sufficient information to trace an illegal distributor. PPMuses the positions of correlation peaks, which are modulated by user information. Furthermore, a forensic mark is embedded into a 2-level 3D discrete wavelet transform (DWT) domain. Experimental results show the robustness against various attack and the capacity improvement of proposed algorithm.

Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm For Multi- Salesman Problem With Time And Capacity Constraints, Shanchen Pang, Tan Li, Feng Dai, Meng Yu

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Classic multiple traveling salesman problem (MTSP) requires to find the k closed circular paths which minimize the sum of the path lengths, and each vertex is visited only once by a salesman. This paper presents an optimized model for the balanced Multiple-salesman Problem with time and capacity constraints, it requires that a salesman visits each vertex at least once and returns to the starting vertex within given time. The balanced MSP is more widely used than MTSP. We describe a particle swarm optimization algorithm for balanced MSP and explain its simple application in the Post Office Scheduling Problem. We demonstrate the …

The Properties Of Tree-Like Hierarchical Networks, Yingxin Zhang, Chao Chen, Jianmai Shi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Tree-like hierarchical structure is one of the key features in many real complex systems. To investigate its properties, a deterministic tree-like hierarchical network model is proposed. Next, the static properties of the tree-like hierarchical networks are discussed. The simulation and theoretical results prove that the artificial tree-like networks conformably possess small-world and scalefree properties well. Furthermore, the dynamic cascading failures in the tree-like hierarchical networks are investigated. A weighted tree-like cascading failure model is proposed, and the impacts of topological structure on the network robustness are investigated by a set of illustrative simulations.

Fpga Design For Pseudorandom Number Generator Based On Chaotic Iteration Used In Information Hiding Application, Jacques M. Bahi, Xiaole Fang, Christophe Guyeux, Laurent Larger

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

Lots of researches indicate that the inefficient generation of random numbers is a significant bottleneck for information communication applications. Therefore, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is developed to process a scalable fixed-point method for random streams generation. In our previous researches, we have proposed a technique by applying some well-defined discrete chaotic iterations that satisfy the reputed Devaney’s definition of chaos, namely chaotic iterations (CI). We have formerly proven that the generator with CI can provide qualified chaotic random numbers. In this paper, this generator based on chaotic iterations is optimally redesigned for FPGA device. By doing so, the generation …

Cellular Automata For The Flow Simulations On The Earth Surface, Optimization Computation Process, Juraj Cirbus, Michal Podhoranyi

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

The spreading of water across terrain is not a simple and isolated process. The spread of water is a part of the more general water cycle. Many commercial software exist for water modelling, but their correct use requires a considerable knowledge of water modelling, and about the study area. Using the relatively simple principle of cellular automata (CA) it is possible to obtain results which compare well with real measurements. This article describes using a CA for simulating the spreading of liquid, using comparatively simple rules and conditions which include several factors affecting the spreading of water such as slope, …
