The Dea Game Cross-Efficiency Model For Supplier Selection Problem Under Competition, Ruimin Ma, Lifei Yao, Maozhu Jin, Peiyu Ren
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
As the most important responsibility of purchasing management, the problem of supplier evaluation and selection has always received a great deal of attention from practitioners and researchers. This management decision is a challenge due to the complexity and various criteria involved. Many methods based on data envelopment analysis(DEA) emerged, especially the cross efficiency. But it exists some limitations, such as the cross efficiency value is often non-unique, average cross efficiency measure is not good because it is not pareto solution. This paper considers the competition between the suppliers and presents game cross efficiency which is based on DEA to assess …

An Effective Heuristic Algorithm For Robust Supply Chain Network Design Under Uncertainty, Maozhu Jin, Ruimin Ma, Lifei Yao, Peiyu Ren
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This paper addressing a study on robust supply chain network design under uncertainty environment. We use decomposition and coordination strategy to decompose the model as two parties: the first part is facility location decision which only concludes 0−1 decision variable, tabu search algorithm is used to determine the 0−1 decision variables, and then regard the 0−1 variables as known input parameters. The second part is flow decision, all-or-nothing method is proposed to design the capacity of the facility. From the numerical example, we can see that, the model and algorithm is valid and effective, the robust optimization model not only reduces …
Optimal Degree Estimation Of The Determinant Of A Polynomial Matrix, Dimitris Varsamis, Nicholas Karampetakis
Optimal Degree Estimation Of The Determinant Of A Polynomial Matrix, Dimitris Varsamis, Nicholas Karampetakis
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper we present a recursive formula to find the degree of the determinant of a bivariate polynomial matrix. The proposed algorithm returns the optimal estimation of the degree but has a very large computational cost. The recursive formula can be represented as an assignment problem which is solved with the Hungarian method that has a very small computational cost. The contribution of the proposed formula is to reduce the required interpolation points for the evaluation–interpolation technique. That is, we reduce the evaluations which are computations of determinants or inverse matrices.

An Information Security Threat Assessment Model Based On Bayesian Network And Owa Operator, Kehe Wu, Shichao Ye
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Information security threat assessment involves two aspects, namely, technology and management. A great amount of uncertainties exist in the assessment, which cannot be strictly quantized. Thus, the completely objective information security risk assessment is hard to realize. To this end, this research proposed an information security threat assessment model based on Bayesian Network (BN) and OWA operator. Firstly, with the integration of expert knowledge, the conditional probability matrix of reasoning rules in BN was clarified, as a basis of the establishment of information security threat assessment model. Then, with the group-decision method of OWA operator, the subjective judging information of …

Network Based Load-Aware Mobility Management In Ieee 802.11 Wireless Mesh Networks, Zheng Wang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
One major concern for mobile networks consists of finding efficient ways of handling user mobility so that the handover process has minimum effect on users’ ongoing sessions. Although COAP provides an efficient way for mobility management in IEEE 802.11 wireless mesh networks, it does not control load among multiple MAPs in the network. Thus, in many cases, the attached MAP is overloaded, and extensive delays are experienced during the routing process. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a load-aware mobility management scheme. The overloaded MAP is detected according to the load estimation. Then the overloaded MAP initiates the search …

A Novel Fractal Block Coding Method By Using New Shape-Based Descriptor, Hsiao-Wen Tin, Shao-Wei Leu, Hiroyuki Sasaki, Shun-Hsyung Chang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The basic theory of Jacquin’s fractal block coding is to approximate a natural image by its partial subdivided parts, given that the parts resemble the whole at either the same scale or different scales. The fact that self-similarity most commonly exists within an entire natural image leads to the development of the proposed method that uses arc as the fractal descriptor, in which an arc commonly exists within the entire natural image, named as Arc-Descriptor Fractal Coding (ADFC) method. In the ADFC, each range block is approximated by using the selected arc-descriptor from an optimal pool. This paper experimentally demonstrates …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The group decision-making problems with several experts and seriously different opinions are unable to be solved by current existing DS/AHP methods. In order to solve above problems, a derived model is constructed to recognize the optimal Basic Probability Assignment (BPA) functions from TIN knowledge matrices by introducing deviation variables. After that, a modified model and its corresponding modified theorems for improving TIN knowledge matrices are proposed to overcome matrix inconsistencies and provide expert group for defining discussed problem as well as guiding improvement direction. The intelligent decision making procedure is presented in terms of intelligent human-machine interaction and decision, and …

A New Synchronization Algorithm For Grid-Connected Inverters, Xiaorui Guo, Jifeng Guo
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Synchronization algorithms are of great importance in control of grid-connected inverters as an integral part of distributed power generation units such as photovoltaic systems. A new all-digital closed-loop phase-locked algorithm for the synchronization signals of three-phase grid-connected inverters is presented even considering seriously distorted and variable-frequency utility conditions. The proposed synchronization algorithm can suppress the negative sequence utility voltage at fundamental frequency and high-frequency harmonic components effectively, and lock the positive sequence phase at fundamental frequency accurately. Moreover, a frequency adaptation algorithm is also proposed for applications where large frequency variations are often expected. Finally, digital simulation and experimental results both …

Reliability-Aware Energy Optimization Algorithm For Network-On-Chip With Voltage-Scalable Links, Xiaona Xie, Qingxin Zhu, Zhengwei Chang
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A reliability-aware energy optimization algorithm is proposed for Network-on-Chip (NoC) with voltage scalable links. Considering the effect of reduced voltage on fault rates, this approach achieves energy/reliability trade-off when performing routing path allocation and links voltage assignment statically. A novel energy-efficiency gradient driven heuristic is proposed to assign the voltages for the links during global design space exploration of routing path allocation. Experimental results show that the presented method can efficiently guarantee the communication reliability and bandwidth constraints, without significant loss of energy savings.

Convergence Rate Of Coefficient Regularized Kernel-Based Learning Algorithms, Sheng Baohuai, Ye Peixin, Yu Wangke
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
We investigate machine learning for the least square regression with data dependent hypothesis and coefficient regularization algorithms based on general kernels. We provide some estimates for the learning raters of both regression and classification when the hypothesis spaces are sample dependent. Under a weak condition on the kernels we derive learning error by estimating the rate of some K-functional when the target functions belong to the range of some Hilbert-Schmidt integral operator.

Sales Forecast Of Dual-Channel Supply Chain Based On Improved Bass And Svm Model, Qi Xu, Zheng Liu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
As the increasingly fierce competition, more and more manufacturers have started to sell products through online channels apart from traditional retail channel. Meanwhile, increased competition has significantly shortened the product life cycle, which makes sales forecast meaningful. Taking lack of historical record into account, the sales forecast model based on historical sales data based on Bass model as well as the improved Bass model by consideration of service and purchase factors are firstly discussed. And then, based on analysis of above model, a multi-factors sales forecast model based on SVM(Support VectorMachine) for short-life cycle product in dual-channel is creatively proposed, …

On The Explicit Four-Step Methods With Vanished Phase-Lag And Its First Derivative, T. E. Simos
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In the present paper, we will investigate a family of explicit four-step methods first introduced by Anastassi and Simos [1] for the case of vanishing of phase-lag and its first derivative. These methods are efficient for the numerical solution of the Schr¨odinger equation and related initial-value or boundary-value problems with periodic and/or oscillating solutions. As we mentioned before the main scope of this paper is the study of the elimination of the phase-lag and its first derivative of the family of the methods to be investigated. A comparative error and stability analysis will be presented for the studied family of …

Recognition Of Concurrent Control Chart Patterns By Integrating Ica And Svm, Chi-Jie Lu, Yuehjen E. Shao, Chin-Chan Li
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Control chart patterns (CCPs) recognition is an important issue in statistical process control, since abnormal CCPs exhibited in control charts can be associated with certain assignable causes and then help to quickly eliminate assignable causes of process variation. Most of the existing studies assume that the observed process data needs to be recognized are basic types of abnormal CCPs. However, in practical situations, the observed process data may be concurrent CCPs which are mixed together by two basic CCPs. In this study, an integrated scheme using independent component analysis (ICA) and support vector machine (SVM) is proposed for recognizing concurrent …

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Nowadays, evaluation of software security, as one of the important quality attributes, is of paramount importance. There are many software systems have not considered security in their design; this makes them vulnerable to security risks. Architecture is the most important consideration in software design that affects final quality of software. Quality attributes such as efficiency and reliability have been studied at software architecture level; however, no report has ever been provided about the effect of software architecture on security. The purpose of this paper is to propose a mathematical-based method for evaluating and quantifying software security using the coupling aspects …

A Hybrid Quantum Genetic Algorithm And Local Search Based Dpll For Max 3-Sat Problems, Abdesslem Layeb, Djamel-Eddine Saidouni
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, we present a new framework for combining complete and incomplete methods in order to deal with the Max Sat problem. The objective is to find the best assignment for a set of Boolean variables, which gives the maximum of verified clauses in a Boolean formula. Unfortunately, this problem has been shown to be NP-hard (non-deterministic polynomial-time hard) if the number of variables per clause is greater than 3. The proposed approach is based on quantum inspired genetic principles and the well known exact algorithm DPLL. The underlying idea is to harness the optimization capabilities of quantum genetic …

Mb-Tot: An Effective Model For Topic Mining In Microblogs, Shaopeng Liu, Jian Yin, Jia Ouyang, Piyuan Lin
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Topic mining on microblogging sites with sheer scale of instance messages and social network information, such as Twitter, is a hard and challenging problem. Although many text mining techniques and generative probabilistic models have been developed for static plain-text corpus, they are inclined to achieve unsatisfactory results in microblogs without considering that microblogs are temporally sequential and concerned with social network information. In this paper, we propose a novel topic model, MicroBlog- Topics over Time (MB-ToT), which aims for comprehensive topic analysis in microblogs. Firstly, we assume each topic is a mixture distribution influenced by both word co-occurrences and timestamps …

A New Construction For The Extended Binary Golay Code, Suat Karadeniz, Bahattin Yildiz
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
We give a new construction of the extended binary Golay code. The construction is carried out by taking the Gray image of a self-dual linear code over the ring R = F2+uF2+vF2+uvF2 of length 6 and size 212.Writing a typical generating matrix of the form [I3|A], with A being a 3×3 matrix over R, and finding some dependencies among the entries of A, we are able to set a general form for the generating matrices of self-dual codes of length 6. Using some special properties of elements of R, we end up with a family of generating matrices all of …

Lfad: Locally- And Feature-Adaptive Diffusion Based Image Denoising, Ajay K. Mandava, Emma E. Regentova, George Bebis
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
LFAD is a novel locally- and feature-adaptive diffusion based method for removing additive white Gaussian (AWG) noise in images. The method approaches each image region individually and uses a different number of diffusion iterations per region to attain the best objective quality according to the PSNR metric. Unlike block-transform based methods, which perform with a predetermined block size, and clustering-based denoising methods, which use a fixed number of classes, our method searches for an optimum patch size through an iterative diffusion process. It is initialized with a small patch size and proceeds with aggregated (i.e., merged) patches until the best …

Equilibrating The Recognition Of The Minority Class In The Imbalance Context, L. Cleofas-S?Nchez, O. Camacho-Nieto, J. S. S?Nchez-Garreta, R. M. Valdovinos-Rosas
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In pattern recognition, it is well known that the classifier performance depends on the classification rule and the complexities presented in the data sets (such as class overlapping, class imbalance, outliers, high-dimensional data sets among others). In this way, the issue of class imbalance is exhibited when one class is less represented with respect to the other classes. If the classifier is trained with imbalanced data sets, the natural tendency is to recognize the samples included in the majority class, ignoring the minority classes. This situation is not desirable because in real problems it is necessary to recognize the minority …

Contour Points Based P2p Algorithm For Shape Matching And Image Retrieval, Jianhui Zhao, Mingming Ji, Mingui Sun, Wenyan Jia, Zhiyong Yuan, Shuping Xiong
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
Based on the extracted contours of objects from images, one point to point (P2P) method is proposed for shape matching and image retrieval. Taking contour of one object as reference, contour of another object is transformed to reach their best match, during which the similarity is evaluated by comparison of two corresponding sets of contour points. Translation, scaling and rotation are all considered in transformation, thus the algorithm is robust to objects with different position, size and posture. The experimental results are presented and compared with those from two popular shape based techniques, Hu invariant moments and Zernike moments. Performance …

Lift And Drainage Of Electrically Conducting Power Law Fluid On A Vertical Cylinder, K. N. Memon, S. Islam, A. M. Siddiqui, Sher Afzal Khan, Nazir Ahmad Zafar, M. Akram
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this work, the theoretical study of steady flow for lift and drainage of Power law MHD fluid on a vertical cylinder is presented. The governing nonlinear differential equation has been derived from the momentum equation. The resulting equation is then solved using Perturbation method. Series solutions have been obtained for velocity, flow rate and average velocity in both cases. The graphical results for velocity profile is discussed and examined for different parameters of interest. Without MHD our problem reduces to well known Newtonian and Power law problem.

Optimized Low Dispersion And Low Dissipation Runge- Kutta Algorithms In Computational Aeroacoustics, Appanah Rao Appadu
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
A new explicit fourth-order six-stage Runge-Kutta scheme with low dispersion and low dissipation properties is developed. This new Runge-Kutta scheme is shown to be more efficient in terms of dispersion and dissipation properties than existing algorithms such as Runge-Kutta temporal schemes developed by Hu et al. (1996),Mead and Renaut (1999), Tselios and Simos (2005).We perform a spectral analysis of the dispersion and dissipation errors. Numerical experiments dealing with wave propagation are performed with these four temporal Runge-Kutta schemes, all coupled with a nine-point centred difference scheme of eight order. The variation of two types of error: the error rate with …

A Novel Algorithm For The Conversion Of Parallel Regular Expressions To Non-Deterministic Finite Automata, Ajay Kumar, Anil Kumar Verma
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
The aim of the paper is to concoct a novel algorithm for the metamorphosis of parallel regular expressions to e -free nondeterministic finite automata. For a given parallel regular expression r, let m be the number of symbols that occur in r and let C denote the number of concatenation operators in r. In the worst case, 2m+1 states are required for the construction of the non-deterministic finite automaton using the novel algorithm. In the earlier existing approaches, the number of states of the non-deterministic finite automaton in the worst case is equal to 22|r|−3C.
