The entire available historic record of sea level and surface weather at Canton Island, Phoenix Islands, has been used to study linear relationships in the frequency range 0 to 0.8 cycles per day. Peaks in the sea-level spectrum at periods of four days and five days are strongly coherent with local weather, especially the meridional wind component. Thus the possibility that these oscillations are a manifestation of a global seiche is doubtful.

New Tables For Oxygen Saturation Of Seawater, E. J. Green, D. E. Carritt

This paper presents new tables and a nomogram for the calculation of oxygen saturation values of pure water and of seawater. The tables are based on recent car eful determinations of the Bunsen absorption coefficient for oxygen and on accepted values of the vapor pressure of water.

A section of sea surface that had been subjected to a constant offshore wind was profiled by using an airborne radar-wave profiler. The profiles extended seaward from the coast for a distance of 350 km . From these data, estimates of the spectrum of encounter of the sea surface were obtained for different fetch lengths....

Two New Species Of Clymenella (Polychaeta: Maldanidae) From Brazil, Charlotte P. Mangum

A collection of maldanid polychaetes made by Dr. Liliana Forneris in Brazil was recently placed at my disposal. The collection contains three species from shallow waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the vicinity of the Marine Laboratory of the Instituto Oceanografico of the Universidade de São Paulo at Ubatuba, Brazil (S. Lat. 23° 30', W. Long. 45°). Descriptions of two new species and notes on a poorly known third follow below.

A New Species Of Clathriid Sponge From The San Juan Archipelago, Tracy L. Simpson

In the course of investigating the cytology of clathriid sponges a new species from the San Juan Archipelago, Washington, has been found. On the basis of skeletal and field characteristics this form appears to be identical to chela-containing sponges described by de Laubenfels (1927) from California as variants of Ophlitaspongia pennata (Lambe, 1894). Cytological evidence reviewed here (see Simpson, in press, for detailed discussion) establishes that the chela-bearing sponges are not conspecific with O. pennata.
