Major depressive disorder is one of the most common and burdensome psychiatric disorders. Many individuals still experience symptoms despite pharmacological treatment. Breathing techniques have shown potential for stress, depression, and anxiety reduction. A second promising treatment are mindfulness-based interventions, which have been shown to effectively decrease depression with fewer side effects than pharmacological agents. Both interventions are accessible via remote instruction. This study will investigate the effect of Sudarshan Kriya Yoga breathwork on depression symptoms. Using a prospective, randomized controlled trial, subjects will receive Sudarshan Kriya Yoga, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, or standard care for 8-weeks. We will measure changes …

The COVID 19 pandemic has necessitated several containment measures including full or partial remote learning for some children and adolescents. Displacement from school is known to be socially isolating with the potential to impact child behavior. However, the direction of effect of pandemic school closures on the emotional well-being of children and adolescents is not yet clear. This study aims to determine the effect of remote learning on emotional and behavioral changes in children and adolescents. Sexual Function In Women Undergoing Risk Reducing Salpingo-Oophorectomy With Or Without Hysterectomy, Madeline Perez

Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomies are offered to women with hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndromes as prophylaxis to reduce the incidence of ovarian cancer. These surgeries induce acute surgical menopause and often result in compromised sexual function including decreased desire, sexual discomfort, and diminished sexual satisfaction. However, little is known about the differences in sexual function in women who undergo surgery with hysterectomy versus those that leave their uterus intact. Using a prospective cohort study, we will compare the effects of Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy alone versus Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy plus hysterectomy on sexual function in premenopausal women with breast cancer gene mutations. The Effect Of Plasma Levels Of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 On Intracranial Aneurysm Progression, Peter Stampfel

Intracranial aneurysms are a common vascular abnormality identified incidentally or after rupture leading to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. However, accurately assessing the risk of aneurysmal disease progression is challenging. Here we propose a prospective cohort study to identify if elevated levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9, a molecular marker of vascular degeneration, in the peripheral blood samples of subjects with unruptured intracranial aneurysms correlate with aneurysm progression over a follow up period. This study aims to aid in identifying patients at increased risk of aneurysm progression in order to guide treatment decisions and ultimately decrease subarachnoid hemorrhage morbidity and mortality.

Burnout affects nearly 50% of healthcare providers including physician associates throughout their professions. The extent of burnout experienced is directly related to the life satisfaction of these providers and to the level of care they provide their patients. One effective way to combat burnout is emotional intelligence practice, but there is little evidence to suggest that incorporating spiritual well-being can reduce burnout and improve life satisfaction in clinicians. In this study, we will assess the effect of spiritual guided practice on burnout and life satisfaction in physician associates. In the wake of the Global Financial Crisis, the Spanish real estate market struggled to recover, which posed significant issues for savings banks that had an outsized exposure to the real estate sector. The Spanish government created Sociedad de Gestión de Activos procedentes de la Reestructuración Bancaria (SAREB) in 2012 to buy impaired real estate assets from troubled banks and sell them over a 15-year period using funds from an up to €100 billion ($123 billion) loan from the European Financial Stability Facility. Slovenia weathered the initial shock of the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) of 2008 well enough to return to growth in 2010. However, non-performing loans continued mounting, banks experienced significant losses, and credit growth turned negative in a credit crunch. Slovenia entered a recession in 2011, experiencing the second largest GDP decline in the euro area. It was not certain whether Slovenia had the fiscal space to resolve these problems without requesting a Troika bailout from the European Commission (EC), European Central Bank (ECB), and International Monetary Fund (IMF). The combination of the collapse of a midsize bank due to fraud and the failure to meet projected exports exposed weakness in the Thai economy in 1996. Pressure on the baht grew in 1997, and the Thai government attempted to defend its currency by depleting foreign reserves. Thailand floated the baht in July 1997, which triggered a financial crisis. The government encouraged financial institutions to establish institution-specific asset management companies to address nonperforming loans (NPLs), which peaked in 1999 at 47.7% of total loans. Mongolia’s transition away from the monobank system in the 1990s did not occur smoothly, with inherited, non-performing loans from the monobank period causing significant instability and insolvency in the banking sector. These inherited portfolios, in conjunction with risky lending by the newly formed banking sector, led to the insolvency of People’s Bank (also known as Ardyn Bank), and Insurance Bank, which together held approximately 35% of total assets in the banking system. Following a large-scale deregulation of the financial sector during the 1980s and the subsequent massive credit expansion, a banking crisis in Finland caused a sharp contraction in the economy in the early 1990s. One of the key policy responses to the crisis was the creation of an asset management company called Arsenal in 1992. The original purpose of Arsenal was to absorb, manage, and liquidate the bad assets of the Savings Bank of Finland (an entity created by the government-forced merger of 41 of the country’s 81 savings banks).
