Some Observations Of Perceptually Impaired Children In Two Approaches To Reading, Joan Chapman
Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts
Reading is one problem facing children having perceptual lags in their development. Some children may reveal clinical evidence of brain injury while others merely show uneven developmental patterns on psychological tests. These children cannot respond to the usual methods of instruction presented during their early school experiences. The regular educational materials and methods are inappropriate for them and must be adapted to meet more primitive learning needs.

Have you ever heard a teacher make the remark, "I just can't teach my children to be creative?" It makes one wonder just what that teacher means by "being creative." Is creativity taught in a certain pattern step by step? Applegate in her book, Helping Children Write, says, "Creativity cannot be taught. It can only be released and guided by a competent teacher." (1) It is often difficult for children to reveal what is on the inside, for they have been disappointed by adults too often when they have exposed their feelings to them. One of the important facts that …

Masters Theses
Purpose and Scope
It is the purpose of this paper to study the impact of federal government aid on Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1962. As a setting for the case study information, the development of federal aid programs as they affect municipal governments in the United States will be explored. The case study approach was selected since the bulk of material now available on the subject deals with the programs as viewed from the National Government level or as applied to the fifty states. Thus the idea of a detailed look at just one city as a recipient of federal aid …

The scientific movement in education was well under way when Witmer established the Psychological Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania and began his work with children showing evidence of educational maladjustment. It is fortunate for mankind that Witmer had the versatility to set aside his laboratory experimentation in order to help a classroom teacher overcome a spelling difficulty of one of her pupils. The scientific movement in education had produced the first Psycho-Educational Clinic. New concepts were introduced into the theory and practice of education. These were precise observation, accurate description, and tested generalizations. These additions made educational changes possible …

Preface
The industrial corporate community is the source of employment for many business school students upon graduation. This study is concerned with finding where one classification of business students, the marketing majors, will be fitted into the corporation ranks through the offer and acceptance of employment.
The investigator wishes to express his appreciation to the many persons who extended their assistance by providing materials and data for the completion of this study.
Dr. Robert B. Trader of the Department of Marketing deserves special mention for the invaluable help and guidance he so willingly gave.

A Study Of Verbal Output, Relating To Otsego Public School First Grade Students With Functional Articulatory Defects, John M. Bartholomy
A Study Of Verbal Output, Relating To Otsego Public School First Grade Students With Functional Articulatory Defects, John M. Bartholomy
Masters Theses
The Problem and Its Background
The Problem
The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not the verbal output of first grade elementary school children is reduced when one of the participants in conversational communication has an articulation speech defect. A speech defect has long been thought to cause a reduction in the verbal output of the possessor of that speech defect. This present study seeks to determine whether or not an articulatory speech defect also reduces the verbal output of the normal speaking person with whom he is communicating.
