Aesthetic Game-Rules For The Arts In General Education, Gary R. Sudano
Aesthetic Game-Rules For The Arts In General Education, Gary R. Sudano
Perspectives (1969-1979)
Aesthetics is commonly known as the philosophical study of the nature and function of art. As such, it is considered to be a theoretical enterprise of interest to some philosophers and, perhaps, to some arts historians. But, as such, it is not thought to have a great deal of relevance or usefulness to teachers and students in general education arts courses. That this is not the case is the first point of this paper. The second point is that while aesthetics is sometimes a weary and cumbersome subject, there are several important principles to be gleaned from its literature which …

The Effect Of Pigments In The Flotation De-Inking Of Newsprint, Harold M. Cody
The Effect Of Pigments In The Flotation De-Inking Of Newsprint, Harold M. Cody
Paper Engineering Senior Theses
This study was performed to determine the effect of the addition of pigments in the flotation de-inking of newsprint. It has been proposed that pigments aid in the flotation and removal of ink. Two pigments were investigated: talc and diatomaceous earth.
The addition of talc caused the brightness of the sheets to drop because the talc became heavily concentrated with ink. The addition of diatomaceous earth to the cell had no effect upon the flotation and removal of the ink. Therefore the addition of pigments to improve ink flotation and removal cannot be justified.

Identifying The Basic Elements Of Critical Reading, Thomas R. Schnell
Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts
A person undertaking a search of the existing literature on the topic of critical reading would notice immediately that there is a rather large number of articles and book chapters dealing with the topic. In reading a few of the articles it would also become apparent that there is little consensus regarding what critical reading is - the definitions range from a very narrow view such as "Critical reading is recognizing biased writing" to rather broad views such as "Critical reading is the process of comprehending in its highest form." One other thing emerges clearly from the literature; critical reading …
