Modules for Teaching Pandemic Response and Religion in the USA

The following teaching module is designed for high school and college level instructors who seek to teach a lesson on the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on the celebration of religious holidays, such as Ramadan, Passover, and Easter. The teaching module features a lesson plan, case studies, and assignments that can be incorporated as the instructor sees fit. This teaching module was created by Western Michigan University's Department of Comparative Religion.

Mumian is a sticky black-brown material found in the Mumian cave in Wadi Al Mayh, Al Amerat, Oman. Mumian has been used for centuries as traditional medicine by the local Omani people. Though commonly ingested orally to resolve a variety of common ailments, very little is known about the Mumian material in terms of its chemical composition. The principle aim of this study is to characterize the Mumian and the host rock in terms of the mineralogy and chemical characteristics using a variety of analytic instruments, including XRD, NMR, FT-IR, XRF, and UV- VIS. Hospital processes are frequently interconnected, with many exchanges of both materials and information between departments. The Inpatient Pharmacy, a key component of any hospital, has hundreds of interactions between departments on any given day, and many processes see the pharmacy acting as producers, consumers, and transporters of goods throughout the hospital. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has become a prominent fixture within the social work profession, with educational and professional organizations paying closer attention to issues related to DEI. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the governing body for accrediting social work education programs, has required social work programs to demonstrate a commitment to DEI in their implicit curriculum. Therefore, the School of Social Work is interested in understanding student perspectives and experiences of DEI efforts particularly within the implicit curriculum.
