Masters Theses
Performance feedback has been used in various organizations to correct problems in the areas of safety, customer service, absenteeism, and tardiness. The present research examined the effects of performance feedback to increase compliance with universal precautions in an emergency room department. Four subjects (Registered Nurses) were observed for glove wearing in any of six different situations common to the emergency room. These included cleaning instruments, cleaning a laceration, giving an injection, phlebotomy, inserting an intravenous catheter, and obtaining and/or transporting specimens other than blood. Worldview Theory And Science Education Research: Fundamental Epistemological Structure As A Critical Factor In Science Learning And Attitude Development, William W. Cobern
Scientific Literacy and Cultural Studies Project
This research paper war originally presented at the annual meeting of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching, San Francisco, March 1989. This research was funded by a grant from the Sid Richardson Endowment at Austin College.

This type of research can be dated as early as the sixties (see Kuethe, 1963; Boyd, 1966); but it came into its own with the 1983 …

Children As Storytellers, David Hayes
Children As Storytellers, David Hayes
Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts
While listening to stories requires making mental illustrations and invites internalization of story structure, the telling of stories demands blending thought and language to the enhancement of both. The rewards for children who learn this art form, retelling favorite stories or creating new ones include an increasingly mature language fluency, expanded vocabulary, a bridge to their own written narratives, and the confidence to speak in front of groups.

Productivity And Affective Responses To Work Tasks And Leisure Activities In Type A And Type B Individuals, Susan Jean Paske
Masters Theses
The Type A Personality Index, a measure of whether an individual tends to be a Type A or a Type B personality, was given to 30 male and 30 female college students who then participated in a planting activity, presented as either a work task or a leisure activity. Productivity was measured by number of pottings, and affective responses to the activity in the areas of evaluation, power, and action were determined by Osgood's 12-scale short form semantic differential (OSD). No significant correlations were found between personality type and productivity or OSD scores in either the work or leisure conditions. …
