Paper Engineering Senior Theses
Information is given on the effects of various concentration of styrene-butadiene latex and oxidized corn starch as binders in coated papers. Also data is given on the effects of increased amounts of styrene-butadiene latex in starch clay systems with respect to viscosity.

Introduction
Mankind has emerged from the Stone Age through the Ages of Iron, Steam, and Electricity to the present Air-Age. This latter age is characterized by man's utilization of air for travel, transportation, and communication.1 It is common knowledge that the Air-Age has a number of social implications. More of our citizens are going abroad and more foreigners are visiting the United States than was possible, a few years ago, with slow moving surface transportation. Military planes now fly round-trips between continents without stopping. There are few places that are not within reach of air transportation. Hence, …

Biology in the Secondary School Curriculum
There is ample evidence, both direct and tacit, that biology has justified its place in the curriculum of the secondary school.
Among the direct evidence is that stated by Heiss, Obourn, and Hoffman1 as follows:
"On the Senior High School level, general biology is well established as a tenth grade course and is usually offered as an elective for each of three years. There is a considerable body of evidence available that seems to indicate that both general science and biology are going a long way …

Introduction
I. Importance and Statement of the Problem
During the past fifty years secondary schools have made rapid advances both in enrollments and in the curriculum. In 1890 these schools were still the schools of the few, even though their enrollments had begun to grow rapidly. The high schools have continued their rapid growth until today today they present an extremely wide range of individual differences in such areas as interests, abilities and needs. Of the millions of students attending these schools today, probably six out of every seven will never attend college. It is thus apparent that …
