Student paper titled “Barn Types” in which Nancy Sikorski details the history, construction, decoration, and function of various barn structures throughout Warren, Barren, and Daviess counties. Sikorski collected her data from informants living in rural communities with barns on their properties. Edwards (published in 1924) and given to Ruth Vivian Baxter, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, in 1930. Ruth names and records comments about her life "loves," including childhood friends, school crushes, movie stars, musicians, and her husband; notes on their wedding include a list of gifts.

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 649. Five account books for a grist mill and saw mill located in East Fork, Metcalfe County, Kentucky, as well as logging operations. The account books list wages paid for daily work as well as for piece work (handles). Employees were sometimes paid in cash, but most of the wages were paid in flour, mill, or other general store goods. Some of the accounts are for customers, not employees.

The growth in availability and affordability of portable fitness devices (PFDs) has facilitated a concomitant growth in the collection and sharing of what are assumed to be reliable measures of exercise and physical activity. This data is increasingly used by fitness trainers to track performance progression, and plan training. Whilst the reliability and validity of these devices has been reported, investigation into the variance in the data at different access points is less well examined. Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 3266. Farm journal kept by Patrick Henry Thomson of Hurricane Hall, Fayette County, Kentucky. He records daily temperatures and farm operations, and makes occasional mention of his and wife Julia's activities. A loose item dated 10 November 1852 gives him notice of a meeting in regards to the recent fire at the county courthouse.

Hurt, a native of Todd County, about his varied business ventures including owning motels, grocery stores, and, eventually, a moonshine still. Hurt describes the fermentation process, production, and running of moonshine in Kentucky during the Prohibition era. The paper also contains a brief biographical background of the informant as well as two fully transcribed interviews with Hurt.

Student paper titled “Household Appliances” in which Kathy Seal interviews her uncle, Edward Derringer, about his collection of unusual household items. The pieces, which were obtained through bartering, are arranged by “Kitchen Appliances,” “Kitchen Utensils,” “Cleaning Utensils,” and “Miscellaneous.” Seal emphasizes that the purpose of her paper is to draw attention to the appearance of the appliances rather than their functions. The paper, then, is made up entirely of hand-drawn illustrations of each object.
