Extensive surveys of the ichthyological fauna have been made for states bordering Kentucky. An investigation of the literature pertaining to the ichthyology of Kentucky discloses the fact that no detailed investigation has been made of fish life in this state, especially western Kentucky. No record is available of any survey having been made in the section known as the Mammoth Cave Region.

The purpose of this survey was to make a species and ecological study of the fishes of the Mammoth Cave Region. Extensive opportunity for ecological studies exists in this region, but only the most important factors were included …

The purpose of this investigation was to determine the distribution of each species of ferns with regard to the geologic strata, altitude and temperature and moisture relationships. A systematic classification was made of all species of ferns found in the region.

A Study Of The Tolerance Of Certain Species Of Fishes For Low Dissolved Oxygen & Increased Carbon Dioxide Concentrations, Charles Allen

Extensive investigations have been made of the oxygen end carbon dioxide content of water in which fishes live. A review of the literature, however, shows that these studies have not been made under controlled laboratory conditions dealing with the species studied in this investigation. It was the purpose of this study to determine the lowest concentration of dissolved oxygen that will support certain species of fishes and, also, the lethal effects resulting from increased carbon dioxide tension as determined under carefully controlled laboratory conditions.

This study was undertaken for the purpose of determining the relation existing between the native forest cover and the chemical and physical properties of the soils of the Mammoth Cave National Park area. The study was suggested by certain references in the literature to a correlation existing between forest cover and the geological, chemical and physical nature of soils of this area. It is the purpose of this study to examine the early state-chartered banks of Kentucky: their creation, career and dissolution. To do this it will be necessary to survey the period of Kentucky history from 1802, when the Kentucky Insurance Company was awarded its charter by the Legislature and granted banking powers, to about 1830, when all previously chartered state banks had become non-existent or were in the process of liquidation.
