C. To secure a basis for recommendations in the interest of better education in Clay County.

1. To determine the status of Kentucky city school superintendents with reference to professional training, educational experience and tenure.
2. To determine the facts regarding the financial compensation and economic status of Kentucky city school superintendents
3. To determine the social and professional status as shown by the activities in which the superintendents engage.
4. To determine the status of the city superintendents with reference to powers and duties.

Trends Of Municipal Expenditures In Second Class Cities Of Kentucky From 1926 To 1933, Howard Taylor

The increase of city expenditures was noticeable for the past two decades. During the depression there arose a greater demand on the part of both tax payers and city officials for some information concerning the costs of city government, what was responsible for the increase, for what municipal funds were expended, and where the cost of city government was headed.

The question of how expenditures in certain departments compared with those of other departments was also a pertinent one. Education suffered an enormous reduction as compared to what had been spent from 1928 to 1932. There was a wide-spread belief …

The Algae Of A Transient Lake In Kentucky, Fred Mutchler

The present taxonomical study was undertaken with the view of obtaining additional information on the occurrence and distribution of algae in Kentucky. The investigation was begun in February 1934 under the direction of Dr. H.L. Stephens of the Western Kentucky State Teachers College. During the next three months 110 collections of algae were made and analyzed.

Studies On A Cave Fish Of Uncertain Classification, Jennie Miller Orr

The specimens studied during this investigation were taken incidentally during a general faunal survey of certain peculiar streams flowing from underground channels. On casual examination it was evident that they belonged to the cave fish group but were not the well known almost colorless blind variety. After checking the descriptions in various vertebrate manuals it appeared that they were probably a new species.

There are three groups of cave fishes, the non-blind, the semi-blind and the blind. Chologaster, or the Rice Field Minnows of South Carolina, are members of the non-blind group. Forbesichthys of southern Illinois and Kentucky is an …

The greater part of the source material was found in the Transylvania Library, Lexington, Kentucky, and in the private collection of Miss Mary O. Gray, Louisville, Kentucky. Some valuable information was obtained in each of the following places: Paris, Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort and Bowling Green.

An ecological study of the invertebrate animal forms exclusive of microscopic forms found in the waters of Drakes Creek in Warren County, Kentucky, was undertaken for the purpose of determining both the nature and amount of invertebrate animal life found in these waters. The Kentucky Fish and Game Commission has made several plantings of game fish in the waters studied. However, the fishermen report no appreciable increase of the fish life in these waters.
