Groups Expressed As The Set-Theoretic Union Of Proper Subgroups, Lana Barrett
Groups Expressed As The Set-Theoretic Union Of Proper Subgroups, Lana Barrett
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
In their paper “Groups as Unions of Proper Subgroups,” published in 1959, Haber and Rosenfeld posed the problem of characterizing groups which can be expressed as the set theoretic union of a finite collection of their proper subgroups. Haber and Rosenfeld established that a group G is the union of three proper subgroups (such a group G shall be called a U3-group) if and only if the Klein 4-group is a homomorphic image of G. Further results concerning U3-groups were obtained in the paper “Groups which are the Union of Three Subgroups” by Bruckhemier, Bryan and …

On September 22, 1949, Shirley Cupp, Irma Beisel, Frances Stuckey and Mr. Hilary Bufton Jr. met in a coffee shop in downtown Kansas City to incorporate the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Jean Fulkerson helped start The Kentucky Colonels Chapter on 3 June 1964 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Twenty-six women met at Western Hills Restaurant and elected Linda Sidebottom as the first president. Besides providing professional development opportunities for local businesswomen, the Chapter gave scholarships to women furthering their education, and held social and recognition events throughout the year. Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This paper is a study of folklore in literature; specifically, it is the study of the folklore in the poetry of Leslie Marmon Silko, a Laguna Pueblo women, and a half-breed. Her family situation, its place in the community, and its oral tradition are briefly noted, and the basic works of folklore in literature scholars are cited; therefore, the groundwork is established on which to examine the specific elements of folklore in the poems from Silko’s books, Laguna Woman and Ceremony.
Taking a Jungian approach to the archetypes in these poems, three subsequent chapters deal with three separate item of …
