Retention, Grade Point Average & Client Satisfaction Of Professionally Counseled Freshmen & Peer Counseled Freshmen, Anne Murray
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Samples from two populations, entering freshmen at Western Kentucky University who were either peer counseled/advised or professionally counseled/advised, were compared on three vairables: (i) retention rate as sophomores, (2) freshman grade point averages earned. and (3) client satisfaction with counseling/advisement services.
The variance between the means of the two freshmen groups was analyzed using a two tailed t test. There was no significant difference between groups in retention or grade point average. The Neurological Impress Method & Its Effects On The Reading Attitude & Achievement Of Learning Disabled Students, Anthony Kunitsky
The Neurological Impress Method & Its Effects On The Reading Attitude & Achievement Of Learning Disabled Students, Anthony Kunitsky
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The Neurological Impress Method is a system of unison reading in which the student and the instructor read orally together. The theory underlying the method is that the auditory feedback from the reader's own voice and from someone else's voice accurately reading the same material establishes a new learning process.
The effectiveness of the impress method with students identified as having a specific learning disability was examined. The subjects were 16 sixth through ninth graders, ranging in age from 13 to 16, and assigned to a special school setting. Each student had been receiving special education services for at least …
The Vapor-Phase Dehydrogenation Of Ethylbenzene Using Polymeric & Polymer-Supported Quinones, Simeon Pickard
The Vapor-Phase Dehydrogenation Of Ethylbenzene Using Polymeric & Polymer-Supported Quinones, Simeon Pickard
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Polymer-supported and polymeric quinones were synthesized and evaluated in their ability to dehydrogenate ethylbenzene in the vapor phase. The polymeric quinones were found to be more useful agents for dehydrogenation than the polymer-supported quinones, probably due to the higher concentration of quinone per given mass of polymer.
The factors that affected the yield of styrene using the polymeric quinone were the nature of the polymer, the space velocity in the column, and the reaction temperature. The space velocity was evaluated by holding constant the flow rate of the carrier gas and varying the concentration of ethylbenzene in the gas stream. …

The Effects Of Individual-Team Training Versus Group-Team Training On Group Task Performance, David Rivkin
The Effects Of Individual-Team Training Versus Group-Team Training On Group Task Performance, David Rivkin
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Organizations utilize groups frequently and extensively for problem solving and decision making. Research results indicate that training in group decision making improves the performance of groups on a variety of decision -making tasks (Erffmeyer & Lane, 1984; Hall & Williams, 1970; Nemiroff, Passmore, & Ford, 1976). Despite the heavy reliance of organizations on teams and the benefits of training in group decision making, there is a scarcity of research investigating the proper instructional mode (i.e., individual versus team) for group decision-making training (Denson, 1981; Goldstein, 1986). The results of studies investigating this problem have been inconclusive (Goldstein, 1986). Support has …
