Young Ewing Allison, Mary Shutt Aug 1936

Young Ewing Allison, Mary Shutt

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Probably no other period in American history has been more productive of romance, strife, bravery, aggressiveness, and conflicting ideas of thought than the period from 1850 to 1865.

One who was fortunate enough to be born in the early years of that period, would have been old enough by 1865 for those various experiences to have branded his future life. Young E. Allison was so fortunate. He was born in Henderson, Kentucky, on December 23, 1853 and was named after his father, who was county judge and county clerk.

Annie Fellows Johnston & The Little Colonel Books, Gladys Wilson

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of this thesis is to study the original background and influences of the Little Colonel Series, their wide popularity, and the criticisms made by friends and critics. Promotion & Non-Promotion In The Louisville Elementary Schools, E. W. Belcher Aug 1936

Promotion & Non-Promotion In The Louisville Elementary Schools, E. W. Belcher

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

To promote or not to promote has long been a question in the minds of both administrators and teachers; however, the segregated problem of promotion and non-promotion did not receive much attention until about fifteen years ago. In the past decade and a half much time and careful, thoughtful study have been devoted to this problem by leading educators.

An Attempt To Determine Why Teachers Fail, Ethel Craig Aug 1936

An Attempt To Determine Why Teachers Fail, Ethel Craig

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

Personal efficiency is an increasing problem before the American public. Every agency that will aid in the successful accomplishment of any desirable goal should become a matter of thoughtful consideration. Success, as defined by a lexicographer, is a favorable end or result; therefore it may become an ever advancing goal toward which an individual moves.

Failure by the same authority, is the set of falling short of success. There is a divine principle within the heart of man that responds to the rhythmic progression of success; while the most callous individual retires to the sanctity of his private world to …

The History Of The Early Theatre In Kentucky, Mitchell Clarke Aug 1936

The History Of The Early Theatre In Kentucky, Mitchell Clarke

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects

The purpose of this thesis is to make a study of the pioneer theatre in the early days of Kentucky with emphasis laid on theatrical life in Lexington, Frankfort and Louisville. The end of the first half of the nineteenth century marks the approximate close of the period studied. Theatrical activity first thrived in Lexington and Frankfort, but soon Louisville became the most important scene of dramatic performances and more attention is given the latter city in this study. Information concerning dramatic activity in smaller towns is scarce, and it is not likely that there were many performances given in …
