A Comparison Of Teachers' Marks In One-Room & Two-Room Schools With Those In The Seventh, Eighth & Ninth Grades In Larger Schools, Orbrie Morris
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
In this study the records examined showed that the per capita cost of instruction in the one-room and the two-room schools varied from three to six times that of the larger schools. The one-room school is the most expensive means of education, yet it offers far fewer advantages and opportunities. The decline in the number of these schools has been in progress for a number of years. This has been true in the rural sections that have a larger number of improved roads. The lack of sufficient roads has seemed to be the greatest obstacle in the consolidation of schools. …

Edward Eggletson: Sources And Backgrounds Of His Novels, Anne Barnes
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Since Edward Eggleston’s materials for his Hoosier novels are based upon his own experiences and observations, it is necessary to know something of him in his actual environment. To understand how the events and conditions equipped him to be the fictional historian of this part of the Middle West, a rapid survey of his biography is essential.

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Kentucky, following in the footsteps of her parent state, Virginia, has given to America some of her most distinguished statesmen. She gave to the Confederacy its only president, Jefferson Davis, and to the Federal Union its war president, Abraham Lincoln. At Fairview a towering obelisk marks the birthplace of Jefferson Davis.
These two statesmen were born, one year between them, of the same pioneering stock. One moved north of …

Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The purpose of this study is to find the hidden facts of a man who has done much to illuminate Kentucky's greatness and glory. Yet little but his name is known to the youth of the land. As death has fixed the seal of glory on his life, history should assign to him his rank. Much of the data in this sketch has been gathered from source material.

A Comparative Study Of The Athlete & The Non-Athlete In The Department Of Physical Education At The Western Kentucky State Teachers College, Robert Francis
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The problems of this work involve four chief divisions. Here they are treated in general, with an elaboration of each in the section devoted to "scope of the study." The four separate problems are as follows:
- What are the physiological differences between the athlete and the non-athlete?
- What particular differences are disclosed by the English and educational placement tests?
- What light do the academic achievement records cast on the differences of the two groups.
- What differences do certain auxiliary factors establish between the athlete and non-athlete?
