The participants were five retail managers of four large apparel retailers who were successful in retaining sales professionals in their current roles within …

A Staff Education Program On The Education Of Nurses On Transgender Health Care, Diana Collins
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In nursing education, both preregistration and continuing professional development, there is an absence of information about the specific needs of transgender people. The practicum site observed that education on the needs of the transgender community was lacking, discussing a discrepancy in the information offered and the scant attention paid to the unique requirements of transgender individuals. The goal of this project was to create a program that would raise staff members’ understanding of the exceptional health care requirements of the transgender population by providing them with an evidence-based assessment screening tool and training on transgender health care for nurses. The …

Executive Coaching And Promoting Organizational Change, Melvin Lewis Clark
Executive Coaching And Promoting Organizational Change, Melvin Lewis Clark
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Communities often suffer from the closure or downsizing of businesses, leading to negative consequences such as increased crime rates, higher taxes, and reduced funding for community programs. Executive coaching (EC) has emerged as a viable tool to address these challenges as organizations seek to strive for a competitive work culture by implementing necessary changes. This transcendental phenomenological study examined the lived experience of leaders (i.e., superintendents, senior leaders, principals, directors, managers) in educational systems to investigate the effectiveness of EC in promoting organizational change. Data were collected from nine leaders in a public school system, a charter and private school, …

The Relationship Between Abusive Management And Counterproductive Employee Behavior In The United States, Norma Ivette Rosado
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Abusive supervision is a kind of destructive leadership that has a detrimental influence on direct subordinates, teams, and the whole business, and counterproductive work behavior has been a critical worry for researchers and managers over the last three decades. It results in undesirable reactions, including workplace deviance, damaging attitudes, and unproductive work habits. Toxic leadership and followership are still relatively new areas of study within the broader field of leadership studies. This study aimed to determine the effects of abusive management on personnel and the business. With counterproductive work behavior (CWB) becoming an increasingly prevalent concept in the workplace, the …

Children living with obesity are at higher risk for chronic disease. Dietary behaviors, sedentary time, and physical activity contribute to the risk of developing obesity. The purpose of this research was to identify associations between acculturation and race/ethnicity influences on obesogenic behaviors in middle school students. A national convenience sample of diverse U.S. children (11–14) was recruited to participate in an online survey (N = 615). Dietary behaviors, including fruit and vegetable consumption (F/V) and sugar-sweetened beverage consumption (SSB), as well as screen time and physical activity, were quantified. Multivariable regression models (linear and logistic) were built. We analyzed …

The Association Between Mental Health And Fibromyalgia In African Americans, Shalika J. Tisinger
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Depression and fibromyalgia can often exacerbate each other and are known to be bidirectional disorders. Chronic pain from fibromyalgia often leads to depression, and depression can cause pain to become worse and affect the nervous system, causing pain. The purpose of this quantitative, binary logistic regression study is to determine if there is an association between mental health and fibromyalgia in African Americans while controlling for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, arthritis, education level (ie. Some high school, high school graduate, some college or higher), diet, poverty-income-ratio, PIR, diabetes, gender, and age. The socio-ecological model included in this cross-sectional study …

Differences In Art And Music High School Students’ Sat Test Scores From 2006 To 2015, Margaret Ellen Beyer
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Academia and education advocates have reported a concern about the elimination of art and music education classes from high school curriculums in the United States. Studies using mean SAT test scores from 1984 and 1994 versions of the SAT test indicated participants who had art and music education classes had higher verbal and mathematical SAT test scores compared to those who did not. However, since revision of the SAT test in 2005, whether students had significantly increased mean SAT test scores with each added year of art and music education participation, and whether students who participated in art and music …

This study was conducted to investigate payment parity as a significant barrier in telehealth adoption by health services organizations (HSOs) in the United States. Ambulatory services have been a preference for Medicaid and Medicare and private payers. However, telemedicine is a platform that presents massive potential in expanding access and quality of care, while boosting healthcare management by significant margins. This study was conducted to explore how reimbursement parity impacts HSO adoption of telehealth services. The micro-meso-macro analytical framework for understanding patient-reported outcomes was used as the theoretical foundation for the project. The research question sought to establish if there …
