Walden Faculty and Staff Publications
While there have been multiple efforts to improve the health of the population, and simultaneously reducing the cost of healthcare and improving the quality of care, there is no single model for improving population health. Worksite health is a microcosm of the health of the nation and the results of been mixed. This paper considers the best practices associated with key worksite health. These best practices include the type of worksite intervention, attention to health literacy, engagement, onsite clinics, coaching and care plans, a digital platform, social support, population health, performance excellence, performance improvement, and an evaluation strategy. While each …
Emerging Evidence Regarding The Roles Of Emotional, Behavioural, And Cognitive Aspects Of Student Engagement In The Online Classroom, Gary Burkholder, Gary Burkholder
Emerging Evidence Regarding The Roles Of Emotional, Behavioural, And Cognitive Aspects Of Student Engagement In The Online Classroom, Gary Burkholder, Gary Burkholder
Walden Faculty and Staff Publications
There is emerging evidence that suggests emotions as a discrete factor in academic online contexts that significantly contribute to student engagement and higher order learning (Cleveland-Innes & Campbell, 2012; You, 2012, You & Kang, 2014; Zembylas, 2008; Liaw, 2008). Pekrun (2000) and Pekrun, Goetz, Frenzel, Barchfeld, and Perry (2011) developed the control-value theory of achievement emotion that not only showed that emotions represent a discrete category in student engagement, but that there are certain factors such as perceived academic control and self-regulation that function as antecedents of students’ emotional reactions that affect online learning. The aim of the present paper …

Relationship Between Ethical Leadership And Sustainability In Small Businesses, David Amisano, Peter Anthony
Walden Faculty and Staff Publications
Since the 2008 financial crisis, business leaders have faced uncertainty regarding the impact of ethical leadership behaviors. Because small business leadership involves multiple facets of behavior and decision-making, small business leaders may have an insufficient understanding of the impact of ethical leadership behaviors on sustainability. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between ethical leadership and financial, social, and environmental sustainability in small businesses. The participants were 80 members of a Miami, Florida chamber of commerce. Correlation analysis and Bonferroni corrected calculation indicated significant relationships (p < .001) between ethical leadership behaviors and social and environmental sustainability.

Socioeconomic Challenges In The Household And The Prevalence Of Comorbidity Among Children With Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Randy Lee Perrin
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the most commonly diagnosed childhood neurobehavioral disorder, is increasing annually at about 5% per year. ADHD has been diagnosed in approximately 6.4 billion children in the U.S., and it is estimated that 66% of those afflicted have 1 or more comorbid conditions. Children with ADHD are often from socioeconomically challenged households. What is unclear from the literature is the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES), defined as education, employment, and income and the reporting of comorbidities with ADHD. The problem is that children with ADHD from low SES households may be reporting a higher prevalence of comorbid …
