Despite elevated prevalence of diabetes among Hispanic, Hispanic older adults face challenges in self-control and management of their glucose levels, and they have less access to preventive health care services. The purpose of this retrospective quantitative cross-sectional study was to examine the associations between access to preventive health care services and Type 2 diabetes outcomes among Hispanic adults aged 65 years and older. Decreasing surgical morbidity and improving surgical safety is a public health priority. With same-day or early hospital discharge after surgery, knowledge about social determinants of health (SDOH) impact on surgical morbidity is vital for surgical safety improvement. This study’s aim was to evaluate SDOH association with surgery-related morbidity after colorectal surgery in an adult population. As rapes and sexual assaults continue to occur on Historically Black College and University (HBCU) campuses, students remain apprehensive in reporting victimizations to law enforcement, despite the presence of sexual assault prevention and awareness programming. Research has shown that the lack of reporting to law enforcement is based on specific barriers. However, there is little knowledge on the perceptions of program facilitators and administrators on why victims decline to report to law enforcement. Patient falls are a significant healthcare concern, with the highest risk being among older adults aged 65 and older. A lack of nursing knowledge can contribute to patient falls. This DNP project was conducted in the medical-surgical trauma unit of a 137-bed local rehabilitation center in Northern Georgia. The intention of the project was to understand if a nursing staff education program would increase knowledge regarding falls prevention. Obesity is a burdensome and preventable noncommunicable disease that annually claims the lives of approximately 5% of the global population. Initially, the disease affected only adults, but the increasing prevalence of childhood obesity has become an ongoing concern to health officials and world leaders. AmeriCorps, a voluntary public service program founded in 1993, has largely consisted of a nonminority middle-class group, generally 20 to 29 years old, who had the financial assistance of family while serving. AbstractThe current literature on self-esteem (SE), body dissatisfaction (BD) and internalized weight stigma (IWS) was limited, albeit evolving. The variables were well established across multiple domains of study: IWS was consistently noted to be a contributing factor for the development of obesity, but no studies explored the relationship between SE and BD on IWS. However, the evidence-based literature shows that practitioners lack both knowledge of how to diagnose the condition as well as the confidence and education to care for patients with obesity. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently declared that no amount of childhood blood lead level (BLL) is safe. The purpose of this quantitative study with a retrospective cohort design was to evaluate the effectiveness of case management intervention on children diagnosed with elevated BLL (EBLL; ≥ 5 μg/dL) in Marion, County, Indiana. In 2013, roughly 7% of college graduates under 25 could not find employment, and about 37% were underemployed. Public university tuition costs increased by 42% between 1999 and 2012, and 71% of college graduates have an average of $29,400 in outstanding student debt. Employers for several decades have complained about how higher educational institutions have failed to deliver graduates with developed nontechnical skills comprising (a) work ethic, (b) communication, (c) organization, (d) problem solving, and (e) teamwork.
