Using Multi-Theory Model To Explain Hiv Screening Behaviors Among College-Aged People, Joshua David Kamimoto Jan 2023

Using Multi-Theory Model To Explain Hiv Screening Behaviors Among College-Aged People, Joshua David Kamimoto

There is a need to examine novel approaches that explain the association between the initiation and sustenance of HIV screening behavior. This quantitative, cross-sectional study was used to examine if the components of the multi-theory model (MTM) of health behavior change can explain the initiation and sustenance of HIV screening behavior among college-aged people. A convenience sample of 151 consenting college-aged people between the ages of 18 and 34 in a western US state completed a self-administered 44-item instrument. Multiple regression analysis was used to assess the correlation between the constructs of the multi-theory model of health behavior change (independent …

Administrative Use Of Prior Review In High School Journalism Programs, Pedro J. Cabrera Jan 2023

Administrative Use Of Prior Review In High School Journalism Programs, Pedro J. Cabrera

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

In Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier (1988), the U.S. Supreme Court established that school administrators have the right to review, change, or remove student-created media if the school sponsors it and if the school administrator has a “legitimate pedagogical interest,” which has been inconsistent across high school student-created media in a metro area of a southern region in a southwestern state. Because of the vagueness, the administration can review, change, or remove student-created media based on personal social, cultural, ethical, or political beliefs. The purpose of this basic qualitative research was to examine how campus administrators determined “legitimate pedagogical interest.” Gatekeeping theory …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) is a potentially life-threatening event following a local anesthetic bolus into the circulatory system. A knowledge gap regarding LAST among perianesthesia nurses was identified at the project site, an ambulatory surgery center in south Mississippi. The practice-focused question was: Whether a web-based education intervention would increase perianesthesia nurses’ knowledge about LAST. The doctoral project aimed to provide perianesthesia nurses with the clinical knowledge essential for early detection of LAST symptoms. A LAST education module was developed using …
