Navigating The Low Covid-19 Vaccination Rate Nexus: Biblical Interpretations & Practices Of Pentecostal Christians In Dmv, Patricia Mbah Nchamukong
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The development and release of a vaccine during an epidemic is aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of infection, transmission, and spread of the disease. However, this does not always guarantee the acceptance of the vaccine by the entire population, as was the case with the COVID-19 vaccine. The low COVID-19 vaccine rate within the Black Pentecostal Christian community in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) is a public health concern. Some factors that might have influenced the decision of this population to accept or reject the vaccine have been linked to politics, anti-COVID-19 vaccine sentiments, and religion. The purpose …
Staff Education Program On Utilizing Non-Pharmacological Interventions To Manage Aggression Among Psychiatric Patients, Olivia Nguh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The staff education project aimed to address the gap in practice regarding the management of aggression in psychiatric patients at a local mental health clinic. Approximately 40% of the clinic’s patient population exhibited aggressive behaviors, including verbal threats, and physical altercations. However, nurses primarily relied on pharmacological interventions and physical restraints to manage these behaviors, which failed to address underlying causes, such as psychiatric conditions and environmental stressors. A review of the literature demonstrated strong evidence supporting the effectiveness of non-pharmacological interventions, with studies highlighting how structured training programs significantly reduced aggression, and improved patient and staff outcomes. The project …

Perceptions Of Muslim Women On The 2019 Reforms To The Saudi Guardianship System, Isatu Jalloh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In Saudi Arabia, the 2019 reforms to the guardianship system were implemented to grant women greater autonomy in areas such as education, employment, and travel. However, despite legal advancements, recent research shows that deeply ingrained cultural and societal norms continue to impact the full realization of gender equality, and a literature gap exists involving professional and educational contexts. The purpose of this research was to examine Saudi women’s perspectives on the 2019 guardianship reforms and explore how these changes have affected their higher education and employment opportunities. The study used Islamic feminist theory and the narrative policy framework as a …

A Phenomenological Analysis Of Race-Based Stress Among Black Women Leaders In Counselor Education, Jamila A. Wilson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Despite calls from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the American Counseling Association (ACA), counseling programs struggle to recruit and retain Black women. One contributing factor to this issue is gendered racism directed toward Black women in the counseling profession. However, the research surrounding the race-based stress (RBS) and race-based traumatic stress (RBTS) experienced as a result of encounters with gendered racism among Black women leaders in this profession remains limited. This inquiry utilized a hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative methodology and the race-based traumatic stress inquiry model as a conceptual framework to explore the nature …
Clinical Practice Guideline For Delirium Screening, Raji George
Clinical Practice Guideline For Delirium Screening, Raji George
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Summary This doctoral project developed a clinical practice guideline (CPG) to address the critical health issue of early identification of delirium among hospitalized high-risk patients. Hospital delirium is associated with prolonged hospital stay, increased nursing home or rehab use after hospitalization, and higher mortality. Evidence shows that systematic screening improves delirium identification among hospitalized high-risk adults. However, there was no clinical practice guideline for delirium screening at the project facility for high-risk, non-intensive care unit patients. Therefore, the practice-focused question for the project was, “Does the evidence support the development of a CPG for delirium screening in high-risk hospitalized patients …

Leadership Strategies For Navigating The Integration Of Physical And Behavioral Healthcare, Seán David Mclawhorn
Leadership Strategies For Navigating The Integration Of Physical And Behavioral Healthcare, Seán David Mclawhorn
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The separation of physical and behavioral healthcare and a dominant medical model have left a void in practice and research, especially pertaining to the leadership strategies necessary to integrate the two forms of care in college campus healthcare clinics. This is especially important given the rise of mental health concerns on and off college campuses. Without integration, there are missed opportunities for care delivery, in general, and a missed opportunity for the provision of care to individuals who historically have not accessed physical and behavioral healthcare at equivalent rates as other populations. The subject of care integration is addressed in …

The Impact Of Level Of Trauma Training On Counselor’S Intent To Leave Community Mental Health Organizations, Denise Lynne Takakjy
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Mental health counselors working with traumatized clients in community mental health agencies may develop vicarious trauma resulting in job burnout which further results in high turnover rates when counselors leave. High turnover results in high costs for the organization in recruiting, hiring, and training new counselors and leads to a decrease in the quality of care that clients receive. Reducing vicarious trauma and job burnout in counselors by providing training in evidence-based trauma treatment modalities could reduce these negative impacts. The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional study was to examine whether there was a statistically significant impact on a counselor’s …

Nepotism In Employee Recruitment And Student Admissions In Nigeria’S Tertiary Education System, Dianabasi Ukpong
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Corruption in Nigeria’s educational sector, especially the tertiary sector, exists as a gap in the literature between policy formulation and implementation. Government agencies structure educational policies for their personal goals rather than enacting a policy framework promoting broad national interest. This general qualitative study used the narrative policy framework to examine nepotistic practices in recruitment and admissions in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. The purpose was to examine how nepotism in recruiting qualified employees impacts the tertiary …
