Investigating The Impact Of Health Information Exchange On Hospital Performance: Evidence From The United States, C. Christopher Lee, Ruoqing Zhang

International Journal of Applied Management and Technology

This study examines the impact of health information exchange (HIE) participation on hospital performance in the United States, focusing on profitability, efficiency, and quality. Analyzing data from 3,294 hospitals over 3 years (2014–2016) and using multiple regression models, the results showed a positive association between HIE participation and improved performance. HIE membership is linked to increased profitability, enhanced efficiency, and certain quality enhancements, particularly in larger, metropolitan, for-profit hospitals. However, the relationship with quality outcomes is less conclusive. From the 1950s through 2024, transracial adoptions—particularly of Korean and Chinese children—have been increasingly prevalent in Western societies. While these adoptions provided children with opportunities to grow up in loving and supportive families, they also introduced unique challenges related to identity, cultural integration, and self-esteem. Psychiatric advance directives (PADs) are binding documents through which a patient who has severe mental illness can specify their treatment preferences before becoming mentally ill in a crisis. PADs support patient autonomy, shared decision-making, and reduce the reliance on coercive or involuntary treatments. During the adolescent stage of development, identity is a foundational aspect of one’s development, and its absence leads to a negative outcome, characterized by role confusion. Positive interventions are necessary to develop a strong sense of self. The purpose of this generic qualitative project was to explore the perspectives of black males and the impact of mentorship on their identity during adolescence. The theoretical framework chosen for this study was Erikson’s identity versus role confusion, the fifth stage of his psychosocial development theory.
