Bulletin No. 54 - Cattle Feeding, Luther Foster, Lewis A. Merrill Feb 1898

Bulletin No. 54 - Cattle Feeding, Luther Foster, Lewis A. Merrill

UAES Bulletins

For three successive seasons, just preceding the work herein detailed, experiments had been conducted at this Station for the purpose of determining the comparative yield and feeding value of early, medium and late cut lucern, also of the first, second and third crops, the object being to decide, by chemical tests and feeding trials, at just what period of its growth lucern should be cut for the best results, and, pound per pound, the relative value of the different crops.

Bulletin No. 53 - Utah Sugar Beets (1897), John A. Widtsoe Feb 1898

Bulletin No. 53 - Utah Sugar Beets (1897), John A. Widtsoe

UAES Bulletins

Although the success of the Utah Sugar Co. has proved that sugar beets can be raised profitably in Utah, the farmer of the State, as well as others who are interested in the erection of sugar factories, desire a more accurate knowledge of the possibilities of the sugar beet in the various parts of the State, than can be obtained from isolated and uncontrolled tests. The Utah Experiment Station carried on, therefore, during the season of 1897, a co-operative sugar beet experiment with the farmers of Utah.

Bulletin No. 52 - The Chemical Composition Of Utah Soils (Cache And Sanpete Counties), John A. Widtsoe Jan 1898

Bulletin No. 52 - The Chemical Composition Of Utah Soils (Cache And Sanpete Counties), John A. Widtsoe

UAES Bulletins

The soils of the State [Utah], as found by the Mormon pioneers of 1847, were virgin in the fullest sense of the word. As far as man knows, only a few patches in Southern Utah had ever been cultivated. For untold centuries the atmospheric forces, unhindered by man's intervention, had been allowed to weather and make fit for agricultural purposes the rock fragments that, washed down into the valleys from the mountain ranges, constitute the soils of the State. For a long period, also, long before human tradition begins, there had not been enough water in the Utah valleys to …

Eine Neue Megachile-Art: M. Kunnemani Nov. Spec., J. D. Alfken
