In den Apidae Europaeae fasst Schmiedeknecht die Gruppe der Andrena varians K. wohl nicht weitgehend genug auf. Es rührt dies daher, dass er eine Gruppe -die letzte in seinem Werke -schuf, die aus Arten besteht, deren einen dicht behaarten Hinterleib haben. Diese Abteilung ist, da sie Arten enthält, die durchaus nicht miteinander verwandt sind, unnatürlich und daher nicht aufrecht zu erhalten. A. Clarkella K., A. fulva Schrk. und A. Rogenhoferi Mor. haben im weiblichen Geschlechte nur die dichte Behaarung des Hinterleibes miteinander gemein, sind aber wegen der morphologisch verschiedenen Männchen nicht in derselben Gruppe unterzubringen.
