Pollen Collection From Alsike Clover By High And Low Alfalfa Pollen Collecting Lines And By A Commercial Line Of Honey Bees, William P. Nye
Pollen Collection From Alsike Clover By High And Low Alfalfa Pollen Collecting Lines And By A Commercial Line Of Honey Bees, William P. Nye
All PIRU Publications
The collection of alsike clover pollen by high alfalfa pollen collecting (APe) and low alfalfa pollen collecting lines of honeybees and by bees from commercial colonies were compared at Donnelly, Idaho, U.S.A., in an area where alsike clover was flowering. All three lines collected an overwhelmingly high percentage of alsike clover pollen (92-99 %), and there were no significant differences between them. A limited amount of rape pollen was collected every day by all groups, and also a small amount of dandelion pollen on one or two days. Only one (high APC) colony collected pollen from a small nearby field …

Introduction Of Small Carpenter Bees Into California For Pollination 1. Release Of Pithitis Smaragdula, Howell V. Daly, George E. Bohart, Robbin W. Thorp
All PIRU Publications
Pithitis smaragdula (F.) is a bright green, small carpenter bee which is widespread in the oriental region and is known to pollinate economically important plants, especially legumes and cucurbits. About 300 bees imported from Ludhiana, India, were released 10 April 1969, at Davis, California. Subsequent collecting during the 1st season confirmed that one or more generations of the bees had been reared and that Trifolium repens L. was visited for pollen. Although the overwintering bees under observation died from unknown causes, and no living bees were found in 1970, it is possible that the bees survived elsewhere. Ecological factors believed …

Development Of A Procedure For Determining Spacial And Time Variations Of Precipitation In Venezuela, Luis E. Ramirez
Development Of A Procedure For Determining Spacial And Time Variations Of Precipitation In Venezuela, Luis E. Ramirez
Reports
An analysis of the influence of the length of the record in the reliability of mean values of precipitation was made for the Caracus-Cagigal Station in Venezuela. Ten series of values were obtained for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35-year periods, extracted for sliding intervals for the overall record of 75 years. The reliability of mean values computer from Figure 3 was quite low for 10, 15, and 20- year periods. The long term record means had higher reliability, increasing with the number of years in the records, but the differences are not important in terms of accuracy. Precipitation …

Development Of Cold Cloud Seeding Technology For Use In Precipitation Management, Charles F. Chappell, Joel E. Fletcher, George W. Reynolds, William N. Mcneill, Ronald Campbell
Reports
This is a report of the world accomplished and results obtained under a 2-year contract. The primary objective of the Wasatch Weather Modification Project is to assess the effectiveness of selected procedures for increasing the water supply in the Wasatch Mountains by cloud seeding. As part of this overall objective, an airborne seeding experiment has been conducted for two winter seasons. Preliminary results of this experiment indicate a positive seeding effect within and on the periphery of the designated target area. A summary of project designs, procedures, and problems encountered is also included. Data processing, editing, analysis and display procedures, …

The Effect Of British Intrusion On The Customary Law Of Bantu Africa, C. Jeremy Curtoys
The Effect Of British Intrusion On The Customary Law Of Bantu Africa, C. Jeremy Curtoys
Undergraduate Honors Capstone Projects
Western man has great pride in his political institutions, which with some justification he holds to be the first to recognize the rule of law as superior to the rule of men. Thus it was with great confidence in his laws and rectitude of his ways that the first Europeans occupied Africa. The impact of this invasion upon the indigenous populations of Africa was tremendous. Every facet of Africa life, its social, political, economic and legal systems were affected.
A study of Bantu customary law has to depend largely on secondary material, because until recent times, the law of Bantu …
A Non-Parametric Sequential Signed-Rank Test And Comparison With The Sequential T-Test, Kuei-Mei Even Sher
A Non-Parametric Sequential Signed-Rank Test And Comparison With The Sequential T-Test, Kuei-Mei Even Sher
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
Sequential analysis is a method of statistical inference whose characteristic feature is that the number of observations required by the procedure is not determined in advance of the experiment. The decision to terminate the experiment depends, at each stage, on the results of the observations previously made.
So far the general sequential t-test (without truncation) is a standard test for the mean of a normal distribution. A truncated sequential t-test has been developed by Suich and Iglewicz (1970). The difference between these two tests is that the former has a fixed critical value whenever the type I error (α) and …

Reading Abilities Of Vocational Trade And Industrial Education Students In Granite School District Relative To Readability Level Of Textbooks, William E. Mckell
Reading Abilities Of Vocational Trade And Industrial Education Students In Granite School District Relative To Readability Level Of Textbooks, William E. Mckell
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The reading abilities of trade and industrial education students enrolled in the six trade and industrial education courses of automotive mechanics, building construction, drafting, electronics, machine shop, and welding in the six high schools of Granite School District were studied in relation to the rated readability of basic textbooks used in those courses. Additional relationships were studied between student reading abilities and intelligence, between course grades and intelligence, and between course grades and reading abilities.
The mean reading ability of the 388 trade and industrial education students included in the study assessed by administering the California Reading Test for grades …

A Comparative Survey Of Health Knowledge Between Sophomores At Utah State University And Sophomores At The University Of Utah, Richard L. Maughan
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
A survey was performed to compare basic health education knowledge between sophomore students at Utah State University and sophomore students at the University of Utah. This was performed through the use of a questionnaire consisting of 40 questions covering the following eight areas of prominence in health education:
1. Alcohol and tobacco
2. Community health and communicable disease
3. Consumer health
4. Drugs and narcotics
5. Food fads and medical quackery
6. Mental health
7. Personal health
8. Sex education
This questionnaire was administered through the mail to 250 randomly selected students at the two universities. When responses were received …
