The Fragments Of Hegesippus And 1clemenet: Succession Crisis, Heresey And Apostasy, Timothy Gervais
The Fragments Of Hegesippus And 1clemenet: Succession Crisis, Heresey And Apostasy, Timothy Gervais
Intermountain West Journal of Religious Studies
Eusebius, in introducing his Ecclesiastical History, deemed it “an account of the successions of the holy apostles, as well as of the times which have elapsed from the days of our Savior to our own.”2 Written circa 325 CE, Ecclesiastical History draws upon the works of Christian historians and apologists from the previous three centuries, and represents a veritable “storehouse” of fragments of Christian and pagan authors otherwise non-extant.3 While it is fortunate that the writings of Eusebius have preserved reference to, and quotations from, otherwise lost manuscripts, the unilateral nature of the preservation makes reliable reconstruction of the content …

The Role Of Anthropology In Promoting Diversity On A Public University Campus, Bonnie Glass-Coffin
The Role Of Anthropology In Promoting Diversity On A Public University Campus, Bonnie Glass-Coffin
Interfaith Initiative Research
We live in an era where xenophobia, Islamophobia, and dangerous “Othering” is gaining ground in our communities. If anthropology's purpose still is, as Ruth Benedict once said, “to make the world safe for human differences,” it is more important now than ever for colleges and universities to provide our students with the necessary tools to do so. This report documents how a new initiative is building capacity for positive interaction among all who orient around religion differently while building bridges of interfaith cooperation at Utah State University. After summarizing campus climate research that led to the initiative's emergence in 2014, …

“The Room Where It Happens”: Teaching Diversity In The Classroom, Debra Jenson
Journal on Empowering Teaching Excellence
Universities across the nation have focused increasingly on promoting diversity, to the point of including this goal in their mission statements. Additionally, millennial students come to college anxious to learn about diversity. This paper presents a lesson plan built around the musical Hamilton. The activity teaches public relations students in a writing class persuasion and rhetoric skills. It has a dual purpose of introducing diversity, the topic of privilege and its role in American culture.

Building Capacity And Transforming Lives: Anthropology Undergraduates And Religious Campus-Climate Research On A Public University Campus, Bonnie Glass-Coffin
Building Capacity And Transforming Lives: Anthropology Undergraduates And Religious Campus-Climate Research On A Public University Campus, Bonnie Glass-Coffin
Interfaith Initiative Research
This paper tells the story of how undergraduate researchers participating in an applied and participatory anthropological research project at Utah State University have used their research experience to help make our campus a more welcoming place for all who orient around religion and spirituality differently. The campus-climate research project described herein was designed to investigate the relationship between diverse religious and spiritual commitments and feelings of discomfort or well-being on our campus. Students who worked on this project gained valuable skills as researchers. Additionally, they became student leaders of a movement to promote a more welcoming climate on campus. Both …
