Protection Of Our Fragile Upper Atmosphere, Clayton Clark
Protection Of Our Fragile Upper Atmosphere, Clayton Clark
Faculty Honor Lectures
Termination of U.S. government support for the Supersonic Transport, SST, may eventually cost the United States its leadership in aviation and billions of dollars in international trade losses, yet if the world wide SST program is allowed to continue, the costs to mankind as a result of damage to environmental resources could be much higher. The decision to terminate the project was heavily based upon concern for possible changes in the properties of the upper atmosphere as a result of SST operations in that realm, with consequent danger to plant and animal life on the Earth below. Briefly, the concern …
Ionization‐Enhanced Diffusion: Ion Implantation In Semiconductors, J Bourgoin, David Peak, J W. Corbett
Ionization‐Enhanced Diffusion: Ion Implantation In Semiconductors, J Bourgoin, David Peak, J W. Corbett
All Physics Faculty Publications
A model for the diffusion of implanted interstitials during implantation is introduced and shown to be able to account for the tails observed in ion profiles. It is argued that mechanisms of ionization‐enhanced diffusion can explain some of the anomalous diffusion mechanisms observed in semiconductors. Indications for the existence of such mechanisms in the field of ion implantation in semiconductors are discussed.
Computer Programs Supporting The Teaching Of Statistics, Chien-Hwa Liu
Computer Programs Supporting The Teaching Of Statistics, Chien-Hwa Liu
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
During the past few years there has been an increasing interest in developing computer packages to enhance the teaching of elementary statistics. The conventional ways of teaching statistics have used such devices as desk calculators, tables of functions, short-cut calculating formulas and electronic calculators, etc. to manipulate the involved computations. Electronic computers, in the past decade, have been broadly used in universities and colleges in many ways. It is only natural to extend the use of computers to the teaching function. Remote terminals can now be installed in any classroom and bring the computer to the students.
