An Analysis Of Allied Bombing Strategies During World War Two, William Pepper
History Honors Papers
A survey of Allied bombing strategies during World War II uncovers striking differences between the bombing of Germany by the United States and Great Britain and the bombing of Japan, which was done by the United States only. That is, the bombing of the principal Axis powers - Germany and Japan - oftentimes differed in method and purpose. Part of the reason for these differences can be attributed to the geographical natures and resulting logistic problems of the two theaters. However, the logistics, though very important, cannot fully explain the differences between the bombing of Germany and the bombing of …
