A Study Of Proposition 14 Of The 1964 California General Election, Arthur Wayne Hartgraves
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
In the history of California, there have been few ballot measures of a more controversial nature presented to the electorate than the initiative constitutional amendment known as Proposition 14 which appeared on the 1964 General Election ballot.
Proposition 14 was a propsed amendment to the Constitution of the State of California which would prohibit the state, its agencies, and local government from placing limitations on a person's right to refuse to sell or rent his residential property to another person.1

An Historical Study Of The Adoption Of The Fifth-Year Requirement For High School Certification In California, Calvin Richard Boyes
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
This is an historical study depicting how California came to adopt the requirement of a fifth year of preparation for secondary teachers. It is hoped that through a better understanding of such a milestone event those interested in teacher education will be able to view current educational problems with greater insight. This insight should include the knowledge that California's fifth-year requirement, though being the first in the United States, was just one of the steps in the development of better certification in this State and the nation. Through remembering how this one significant event_ the adoption of the fifth-year requirement, …

A Historical Study Of The Berlin Airlift, William Earl Dofflemyer
A Historical Study Of The Berlin Airlift, William Earl Dofflemyer
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Many cities have experienced extended and sometimes catastrophic sieges in their history. Troy was besieged for ten years. Carthage fell to the Romans after three years of resistance. The siege of Paris by Prussia in 1970 and 1877 lasted fire-and-a-half months. The story of the blockade of Berlin, however, and the airlift created to combat this blockade, is perhaps the most curious of all such stories. The eleven-month siege was a determined attempt by Soviet Russia to starve the Berliners into surrender. The defense and the eventual victory over this attempt was provided by the miracle of the Berlin Airlift..

A Survey Of Speech Therapy Programs Of Selected School Districts Within A One Hundred Mile Radius Of Lodi, California, Edward O. Tempel

The Condor's Quill : An Analytical And Historical Study Of The Style Of Herman Melville's Moby Dick, Eleanor Burgess Kramer
The Condor's Quill : An Analytical And Historical Study Of The Style Of Herman Melville's Moby Dick, Eleanor Burgess Kramer
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
In commencing the study of the style of Moby Dick, the student is confronted with several questions. Most important, perhaps, is the question of how much the style has contributed to the importance of the book, to the great adulation accorded it by many critics during the last quarter century.
Did Melville’s peculiar ways of expressing his ideas have some particularly timely appeal to the post-WWI Generation? It is a highly mannered style, unique as that of Tristram Shandy. Yet while Sterne’s book was greatly enjoyed by the author’s contemporaries, Moby-Dick aroused very little contemporary interest. Was the style of …
