Report And Recommendations, Texas 2000 Commission Mar 1982

Report And Recommendations, Texas 2000 Commission

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

The dramatic population and economic growth experienced in Texas during the 1970s is expected to continue throughout the rest of the century. We will be increasingly challenged to use our natural resources productively and carefully, provide government services that are essential and economical, and maintain and improve our quality of life. The Texas 2000 Commission agrees with that assessment. Our first task was to identify and study issues critical to the continued health and vitality of the Texas economy and quality of life. Then, we focused on determining recommendations for action that are consistent with the appropriate roles of Texas …

Transportation In Texas : Past, Present, And Future, Texas Transportation Institute, Texas A & M University System Aug 1981

Transportation In Texas : Past, Present, And Future, Texas Transportation Institute, Texas A & M University System

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

Transportation is seldom of value in and of itself. It generally is a means rather than an end, and for this reason the importance of transportation is often unnoticed. In fact, a smoothlyworking, well-ordered transportation system may likely be taken for granted in much the same sense as the air we breathe is taken for granted. But if a disruption occurs in this efficient system, the results are immediate, often dramatic, and potentially destructive. A traffic accident can instantly block the flow of an entire freeway resulting in huge losses of valuable travel time and the waste of hundreds of …

Equations With Unbounded Delay: A Survey, V. Lakshmikantham, C. Corduneanu Aug 1979

Equations With Unbounded Delay: A Survey, V. Lakshmikantham, C. Corduneanu

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

The theory of equations with delay has been considerably developed during the past 30 years. The first book dedicated to this subject has been published by A. D. Myshkis [180], in 1951, and has been subsequently translated into German (1955) and English (1966). A second Russian edition, that came out in 1972, contains a good deal of references and points out interesting features of the theory of linear equations with delayed argument, including also examples of equations with unbounded delay.

Selected Issues Pertaining To Service Fees Of Texas Counties, Texas Advisory Commission On Intergovernmental Relations

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

This report highlights several county service fee issues and also discusses the need for a comprehensive study of "fees of office," the major source of county fee revenue. The report was authorized by the Commission for the purpose of contributing to the improved use of service fees by county governments in the state. The Commission approved the report at its meeting on May 11, 1979 for publication as an informational report incorporating final action by the 66th Legislature on legislation discussed in it.

Pilot Study Of The Activity Assessment Routine, Social And Economic Component, Texas Coastal Management Program Jan 1978

Pilot Study Of The Activity Assessment Routine, Social And Economic Component, Texas Coastal Management Program

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

The purpose of the pilot study is to test the social and economic component (SEC) of the activity assessment routine. It was undertaken (1) to identify areas in the SEC needing refinement, (2) to estimate the time and personnel required to perform the SEC, and (3) to test the computer programs for the SEC. The model predicts certain social and economic impacts of an industrial facility on the surrounding area. The impacts identified during the course of this study are those associated with the construction phase of the project. These are short-term impacts. In contrast, the impacts of the operations …

Mathematical Modeling In Medicine, Jerome Eisenfeld Sep 1976

Mathematical Modeling In Medicine, Jerome Eisenfeld

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

Although the involvement of mathematics in medicine is still relatively recent, the discipline has become attractive to the mathematics community, and in fact, medically oriented articles presently appear in several mathematics journals. We call the reader's attention to the following journals: Bulletin of Mathematical Biology (continues The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics), Biomathematics (also called Revue de Bio-Mathematique), SIAM Journal in Applied Mathematics (a new series devoted to biomathematics will appear shortly), Math Biosciences, Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Transactions in Biomedical Engineering, Journal of Biomechanics, Biological Cybernetics, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Journal of Theoretical Biology, and Biometrics. Each year there are …

Federal General Revenue Sharing And The Finances Of Texas State And Local Government, Texas Advisory Commission On Intergovernmental Relations

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

In 1973 the Texas Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations undertook an extended study of federal general revenue sharing at the request of the Texas Legislature. This report, which is one product of the study, is intended to provide basic information concerning the distribution of revenue sharing funds and the fiscal impact of revenue sharing on state and local government in Texas. It is hoped that this analysis will be helpful to the Texas Legislature as well as other public officials and interested citizens who want to learn more about the effects of federal revenue sharing.

Study Of The Supply And Demand For Skilled Construction Workers In Texas, 1974-2000 : Final Report For The Special Project Committee Of The State Manpower Services Council, Texas Industrial Commission, Texas State Manpower Services Council. Special Project Committee

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

This analysis of the supply and demand of skilled construction workers includes the four following topics: supply mechanisms; supply of skilled laborers; past, current and projected construction; and manpower requirements for such construction. The types of construction are restricted to energy-related (nuclear and fossil-fueled power plants), industrial-related (petroleum and chemical plants) and water-related (dams, reservoirs and waste-water treatment facilities). The supply mechanisms include apprenticeship training programs, vocational-technical programs and on-the-job training. The first of these sources is considered to be broad-based training while the latter two are categorized as narrow-based training. Apprenticeship training programs, though long in duration, qualify trainees …

Historic Preservation In Texas, Texas Historical Commission

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

HISTORIC PRESERVATION IN TEXAS is the comprehensive statewide historic preservation plan for Texas. It is the purpose of this document to analyze the historic patrimony of the state, inventory those architectural, historical and archeological properties which are the tangible links with the state's heritage, and make this information available to the public so that through planning and preservation, that heritage can be permanently safeguarded. The future of Texas is clearly linked to its past. What the state is—the outlooks and attitudes which characterize it—and what it will become in the future are the logical development from its roots and traditions. …
