Faculty Catalog 1990 - 1993, School Of Architecture Jan 1993

Faculty Catalog 1990 - 1993, School Of Architecture

School of Architecture Publications - Archive

This modest volume, the School of Architecture's Faculty Catalog, is offered as a companion to the more familiar academic reference, the Course Catalog. In fact, a Faculty Catalog is more important than its convention counterpart because it presents people, the teachers who give the courses and so much else. A faculty can do its work without courses; but courses -- those discrete units of content and procedure and time -- have no life without teachers. The Faculty Catalog is published to help those who want to know and to use the School of Architecture: Students and prospective students ... faculty …

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

"This report represents the collective efforts of the State Job Training Coordinating Council and its staff to recommend to you a plan for implementation of a high skill, high wage strategy that will prepare the Texas work force for the "smart jobs" of the future. The recommendations in this report reflect the Council's conclusion that a more effective and efficient system would result if all work force development programs were administered by a single agency at the state level. We also recommend a single, broadly constituted, Human Resource Investment Council to advise you on Texas' major work force development programs. …

Quality Texas, Texas Department Of Commerce Jan 1993

Quality Texas, Texas Department Of Commerce

Documents from the State of Texas-Archive

Quality Texas was implemented at the request of Governor Ann Richards to address the critical needs Texas businesses are facing to remain profitable and competitive in the global marketplace. The program was designed by a community of quality experts from across Texas representing the business, government and education sectors. The need for small and medium-sized businesses to adopt quality systems has become increasingly evident as large corporations move toward single source suppliers who can provide the highest quality parts and services with not only the lowest costs, but also the lowest number of defects per million and lowest cycle times. …

A Semiclassical, Dynamical Model Of Methane, Donald Greenspan Jan 1993

A Semiclassical, Dynamical Model Of Methane, Donald Greenspan

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

In this paper we present a semiclassical, dynamical model of the ground state methane molecule. The resulting 13-body problem is solved numerically using energy conserving methodology. The bond length and bond angle results are in complete agreement with experimental results.

Electron Attraction As A Mechanism For The Chemical Bond Of Ground State H2, Donald Greenspan Jan 1993

Electron Attraction As A Mechanism For The Chemical Bond Of Ground State H2, Donald Greenspan

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

Previously, electron attraction, incorporated into classical models of the chemical bond, yielded correct bond lengths and vibrational frequencies for all the diatomic molecules through 02. In each case, maximally symmetric electron-nuclei configurations were utilized. In this paper, which concentrates only on ground state H2, it is shown that maximal symmetry is not necessary for the attainment of correct results.

Computer Studies Of A Semiclassical Model Of The Water Molecule, Donald Greenspan Jan 1993

Computer Studies Of A Semiclassical Model Of The Water Molecule, Donald Greenspan

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

A semiclassical model of the water molecule is formulated in ground state as an eleven-body problem. The stiff system of dynamical, nonlinear, ordinary differential equations is solved numerically on a CRAY YMP supercomputer. An energy conservative, implicit numerical method is used in order to assure invariance of the ground state energy. From selected initial data, the results of three examples, each run for 12 billion time steps, are shown to be entirely consistent with experimental bond angle measurements.

A Temperature-Adjusted Ozone Attainment Criterion Based On Extreme Value Regression Analysis, D. L. Hawkins Jan 1993

A Temperature-Adjusted Ozone Attainment Criterion Based On Extreme Value Regression Analysis, D. L. Hawkins

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

We propose a new statistical methodology to adjust observed peak ozone levels to "normal" meteorology (say, temperatures) across the year for a given site. The adjusted ozone levels can be used to establish a yearly ozone attainment criterion without undue influence of meteorology. They can also be used to estimate ozone trends resistant to meteorological influences. The adjustment process is based on an extreme value regression model of the relationship between peak ozone, temperature and various precursors of ozone. The proposed temperature-adjustment criterion is applied to data for seven sites in Los Angeles County for each of the years 1989-1993, …

Melting Points Of Atomic And Homogeneous, Diatomic Molecular Solids Via The Four-Body Problem, Donald Greenspan Oct 1992

Melting Points Of Atomic And Homogeneous, Diatomic Molecular Solids Via The Four-Body Problem, Donald Greenspan

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

For a regular tetrahedral arrangement of four identical atoms, the minimum velocity of one atom, required for that atom to pass through the plane of the other three, is used to define the melting point of any solid composed of such atoms. The formula which results is [see pdf for notation], in which h is Planck's constant. Computations and results are described for helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon and copper. The methodology is then extended to homogeneous, diatomic molecular solids and results are described for H2, D2, N2, 02, and C12.

1992.1 - Theatre 3 At The Meyerson, Dallas, Martin Price May 1992

1992.1 - Theatre 3 At The Meyerson, Dallas, Martin Price

School of Architecture Student Projects - Archive

Design work from the 1992 spring semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Theatre 3. The site is a large, open green space adjacent to the Meyerson Concert Hall in Dallas. A rhythmic wave-like composition is produced by raising sections of land upward and lowering sections downward. The small scale arena-type theatre is positioned under the raised section facing the street. The lowered section brings the sky down into the land, providing daylight to the below-grade parking entrance to the concert hall. The land then rises up to contain restaurants. The land climbs up …

On Electron Attraction & Newtonian Methodology For Approximating Quantum Mechanical Phenomena, Donald Greenspan Apr 1992

On Electron Attraction & Newtonian Methodology For Approximating Quantum Mechanical Phenomena, Donald Greenspan

Mathematics Technical Papers - Archive

Classical dynamical computations for ground state [see pdf for notation], and [see pdf for notation] have been shown to yield correct vibrational frequencies and molecular diameters under an assumption of electron attraction for bonding electrons. In this paper, it is shown that such a mechanism also extends to [see pdf for notation] and to the nonhomogeneous molecules [see pdf for notation] and [see pdf for notation]. The vibrational motions are, apparently, quasi-periodic rather than periodic.
