David R. Carr, a professor of History at USF St. Petersburg from 1971 through 2009, donated this collection of political ephemera to the Poynter Library on 27 November 2007. The buttons focus primarily on Democratic Party candidates for the 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns.

In 1996, Dr. Raymond O. Arsenault donated the Harrison W. Fox Real Estate Collection to the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library. The collection contains the personal papers of Harrison W. Fox, a prominent and successful third-generation real estate developer in post-World War II St. Petersburg. Mr. Fox was a very active member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and an officer in both the Homebuilder's Association of Greater St. Petersburg (of which he was a charter member and the Association's first secretary) and the St. Petersburg Builder's and Contractor's Association.
