Archeological Survey Of The South Tyger Watershed, Michael O. Hartley
Archeological Survey Of The South Tyger Watershed, Michael O. Hartley
Research Manuscript Series
At the request of the Soil Conservation Service an archeological survey was conducted by the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, University of South Carolina on three proposed reservoir projects in the South Tyger River Watershed, Greenville County, South Carolina. The survey took place in February 1975 and revealed eight previously unrecorded sites in the watershed area. None of these sites are of a significance to warrant further extensive investigation, and there is little possibility that the reservoir projects will destroy any significant archeological sites.

The Role Of A Dolichol-Oligosaccharide As An Intermediate In Glycoprotein Biosynthesis, An-Fei Hsu, John W. Baynes, Edward C. Heath

Incubation of mouse myeloma microsomes with GDP-[(14)C]mannose results in the biosynthesis of [(14)C]mannose phosphoryl dolichol [Baynes, J. W., Hsu, A.-F. & Heath, E. C. (1973) J. Biol. Chem. 248, 5693-5704] and a [(14)C]mannose- and N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc)-containing oligosaccharide derivative of dolichol. Thus, [(14)C]mannose phosphoryl dolichol and [(14)C]mannose-labeled oligosaccharide pyrophosphoryl dolichol were isolated from incubation mixtures by solubilization in 2% (w/v) Triton X-100 and the lipids were separated from small molecules by gel filtration fractionation. After removal of radioactive protein from the preparation, the two lipid derivatives were separated quantitatively by fractionation on a concanavalin A-Sepharose column; [(14)C]mannose phosphoryl dolichol was not …

An Archeological Reconnaissance Of The Proposed Cooper River Rediversion Project, Berkeley County, South Carolina, Robert C. Asreen Jr.
Research Manuscript Series
During March and April, 1974, the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, University of South Carolina conducted an archeological reconnaissance of the proposed Cooper River Rediversion Project in Berkeley County, South Carolina. As a result, forty-four sites were located and two of these, the Platt Site (38BK76) and the Keller Site (38BK83), were tested. A breakdown of site locations was made according to environmental zones. Site components indicate prehistoric occupation of the project area from the Archaic through the Woodland Periods and historic occupation from the late eighteenth century to the present. All but five of these sites are in danger …
