Simulated Learning In Musculoskeletal Assessment And Rehabilitation Education: Comparing The Effect Of A Simulation-Based Learning Activity With A Peer-Based Learning Activity, Mark Hecimovich, Simone Volet
Faculty Publications
Background: Musculoskeletal disorders and diseases are leading causes of pain, physical disability, and doctor visits throughout the world. Health professionals must be trained to assess, treat through rehabilitation and monitor patients with these disorders. Yet, due to overcrowded curricula, some health education programs struggle to accommodate more than minimal training in musculoskeletal conditions. Consequently, educators in these professions must consider how traditional instruction could be complemented effectively to enhance students’ preparation for the diverse musculoskeletal disorders and pathologies they may encounter. The purpose of this study was to explore the benefits that can be obtained from laboratory practice in musculoskeletal …

“Mathematicians actually spend a great deal of time writing. If a mathematician wants to contribute to the greater body of mathematical knowledge, she must be able communicate her ideas in a way which is comprehensible to others.” Lee, 2014, pg. 1
Why should our students be different from the mathematicians Lee (2014) refers to in the quote above? Learning mathematics requires a confluence of spoken, written and mathematically abstract languages. After all, who thinks entirely in mathematical symbols? No one, except a few mathematical thinkers who are live in the abstract worlds they construct. Thinking about mathematics in the language …

Relationship Between Weight-Related Teasing And Levels Of Physical Activity, Piroska Boros
Relationship Between Weight-Related Teasing And Levels Of Physical Activity, Piroska Boros
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Weight-related teasing is associated with predictors of physical activity such as self-efficacy and social support. It is possible that more frequent weight-related teasing is directly associated with engagement in physical activity.
The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between weight-related teasing and engagement in physical activity, body composition and physical activity enjoyment among female college students. This study also investigated the possibility that physical activity enjoyment mediates the relationship between weight-related teasing and physical activity.
Fifty-seven female college students participated in the study. Participants completed the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale to measure how much they enjoyed participating …

Increasing Student Involvement In Physics: An Activity Based Curriculum Unit For The Physics Classroom, Melinda Leah Hamann
Increasing Student Involvement In Physics: An Activity Based Curriculum Unit For The Physics Classroom, Melinda Leah Hamann
Graduate Research Papers
Perhaps the biggest hurdle in education today is student engagement. Students who are engaged have meaningful interactions with the classroom and are able to internalize what they have learned and use it in their lives (Newman, 1992). This has far reaching effects, not only for the classroom but for the school and community as well. When students are engaged attendance rates, homework completion and classroom participation increase. It is no wonder that engagement is one of the most used educational buzzwords.
