Context:

Chronic heat exposure promotes cardiovascular and cellular adaptations, improving an organism's ability to tolerate subsequent stressors. Heat exposure may also promote neural adaptations and alter the neural–hormonal stress response. Hot-temperature yoga (HY) combines mind–body exercise with heat exposure. The added heat component in HY may induce cardiovascular and cellular changes, along with neural benefits and modulation of stress hormones.

Aims:

The purpose of the present study is to compare the cardiovascular, cellular heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), neural, and hormonal adaptations of HY versus normal-temperature yoga (NY).

Continuando una serie de estudios que han identificado aspectos de la identidad española que han arraigado con éxito en la población española, este estudio propone que el uso del deporte fue uno de esos aspectos exitosos. En particular se propone el caso de los héroes quijotescos, deportistas que triunfaron durante el franquismo en disciplinas individuales, como ejemplos del perfecto héroe español. Global Hyperorgan: A Platform For Telematic Musicking And Research, Randall Harlow, Mattias Petersson, Robert Ek, Federico Visi, Stefan Östersjö

Faculty Publications

The Global Hyperorgan is an intercontinental, creative space for acoustic musicking. Existing pipe organs around the world are networked for real-time, geographically-distant performance, with performers utilizing instruments and other input devices to collaborate musically through the voices of the pipes in each location. A pilot study was carried out in January 2021, connecting two large pipe organs in Piteå, Sweden, and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. A quartet of performers tested the Global Hyperorgan’s capacities for telematic musicking through a series of pieces.
