The research will compare the effects of traditional paper manuals and ARTT manuals on the learning outcomes of troubleshooters. The measurements of learning outcomes will include cognitive ability, professional specific knowledge, and skill retention. Keywords: augmented reality (AR), industrial maintenance, augmented …

Variable Selection Via Penalized Logistic Regression For Binary Classification, Gloria Antwi-Boasiako May 2026

Variable Selection Via Penalized Logistic Regression For Binary Classification, Gloria Antwi-Boasiako

Theses and Dissertations

In this study, we developed some hybrid estimators for variable selection in logistic regression by integrating the sparse local gradients (SLG) with some existing variable selection methods such as LASSO, Elastic net, SCAD, and MCP. The goal is to retain the flexibility of penalized likelihood estimation while improving the stability and interpretability of the selected model.

The finite-sample performance of the proposed methods is examined through a Monte Carlo simulation study covering low-, moderate-, and high-dimensional settings under different levels of predictor correlation. The simulation results show that incorporating SLG screening generally leads to more controlled model sizes and fewer …

Psychology Student Publications

Helping others is a good way to help prevent psychological disorders. The literature reviewed here points towards a protective and mitigating effect on symptoms of anxiety and depression brought upon by prosocial behaviors. Prosocial behavior is associated with higher positive moods in participants with depression (Schacter & Margolin, 2019), it is negatively correlated with feelings of reported rates of depression, anxiety and isolation (Naclerio et al., 2026), and seems to have a protective effect against development and exacerbation of anxiety (Okuyucu et al., 2024). All of that indicates that encouraging these behaviors lead to more positive mental health outcomes without …

Through years of empirical research psychologists have identified four main attachment styles, secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized, later connected to relationship patterns. Modern research also highlights that attachment patterns are not permanent, supportive experiences later in life can promote growth and change.
