A Comparison Of Biological Characteristics Of Goldeye, Hiodon Alosoides (Rafinesque), In Garrison Reservoir, Donald Eugene Miller

Theses and Dissertations

Age and growth and other biological characteristics of goldeye were compared at five widely separated stations on Garrison Reservoir in 1968 and 1969. All samples were collected with experimental gill nets fished near the surface. In 1968, goldeye comprised 88.56 percent of the total catch of 1,381 and in 1969, they made up 94.42 percent of the total catch of 2,230 fish. It was found that growth patterns of goldeye at the various stations were statistically different, which may be attributed to the differences in turbidity, temperature and possibly other limnologic conditions. An Analysis Of Parental Attitude In Regard To Physical Education And Athletics In The Harvey High School, Gordon R. Baumgartner

The purpose of this study was to investigate parental attitude in regard to several areas in physical education and athletics in the Harvey High School.

The questionnaire-opinionnaire technique was used for obtaining the data. Copies of the opinionnaire were mailed to l£0 parents, and a return of 111 questionnaires, or 74 percent, was received.

A brief summary of the findings show:

1. Parents believed an adequate job of teaching physical education is being done today.

2. Parents believed their children are receiving a better training in physical education now than when the respondents attended school.

Ecological Factors Affecting Lateral Distribution Of Goldeye Hiodon Alosoides (Rafinesque), In The Little Missouri Arm, Lake Sakakawea, North Dakota, Stanley I. Johannes

Theses and Dissertations

The lateral distribution of goldeye, Hiodon alosoides (Rafinesque) in Little Missouri Arm, Lake Sakakawea, North Dakota, was investigated during 1967 and 1968. This species, which is of commercial importance in Canada, is present in great abundance in Lake Sakakawea, yet is not commercially exploited in that body of water.

Experimental gill nets were fished from the surface at eight locations along the Little Missouri Arm to detect differences in goldeye populations along the length of the arm. A total of 7,191 fish were taken of which 6,536 or 90.80% were goldeye. Mesh selectivity data was recorded; 1 1/4 inch mesh …

A Paleontological Study Of Pedimeant Gravels Of Southwestern North Dakota Which Exhibit Evidence Of Permafrost Activity, Palmer K. Bailey

Undergraduate Theses and Senior Projects

Large remnants of pediment surfaces in the unglaciated southwestern portion of North Dakota exhibit evidence of a former permafrost environment in the form of ice-wedge fillings and bedding contortions. Under proper moisture conditions the "fossil" polygonal pattern of the wedge fillings may be observed on air photos. The molluscan fauna collected from the fluvial deposits which cover the pediment surfaces indicates that there was a relatively warm, moist climate during the time of deposition. Because of paleontological, topographic, and geomorphic evidence, it is suggested that the two sites of Tuthill, Laird, and Frye (1964) are not correlative and that one …
