The Reliability Of Indirect Assessments Of Standing Forward Head Posture In Asymptomatic Adults, Bailey Strand
The Reliability Of Indirect Assessments Of Standing Forward Head Posture In Asymptomatic Adults, Bailey Strand
Theses and Dissertations
Background: Measurement reliability has important decision-making implications for physical therapists and researchers when assessing individuals. Given that physical therapists often visually assess forward head posture (FHP) to guide treatment, the aims of this study were to quantify: (a) the reliability of indirect (visual) assessments of standing FHP in asymptomatic adults, and (b) the magnitude of the biological (postural) and technical errors involved.
Methods: A reliability analysis of two indirect assessments (visual assessments of real and 3D body scanned people) of FHP was undertaken. The sample comprised 10 physical therapists and 50 asymptomatic participants. Participants were scanned using the Vitus Smart …

Technology And Economy Analysis Of Waste Truck Tires Management, Irina Tsiryapkina
Theses and Dissertations
The main objective of this work was to develop a waste truck tires recycling facility for the Siberian coal transportation company “SibTreid NK” in the Kemerovo region, Russia. For years, the company has been stockpiling old scrap tires at their warehouse or dumping them into open strip mines. Taking this into account as well as existing environmental concerns due to the continually growing coal industry in the Kemerovo region, it is highly necessary to make an operational facility to deal with the large number of accumulated waste truck tires.
To achieve this goal, this project reviewed different methods and technologies …
Impacts Of Cold Region Hydroclimatic Variability On Phosphorus Exports: Insights From Concentrations - Discharge Relationships, Tyson Lee Jeannotte
Impacts Of Cold Region Hydroclimatic Variability On Phosphorus Exports: Insights From Concentrations - Discharge Relationships, Tyson Lee Jeannotte
Theses and Dissertations
In Devils Lake ND, a terminal lake in the Northern Great Plains, algae blooms are of great concern due to the recent increase of streamflow and subsequent elevated concentrations of nutrients, particularly phosphorus. To date, very few studies explore P concentration to streamflow relationship in cold region agricultural basins, specially the headwater catchments of the Devils Lake basin. This study gains a better understanding of the impacts of hydroclimatic variation on concentration to streamflow relationships between two headwater catchments (Mauvais Coulee: 1032 km2 and Tributary 3: 160 km2) draining to Devils Lake during the 2016-2018 period. This study presents high-resolution …
Development Of Dna-Based Biosensors And Antibacterial Additive, Yuqian Xing
Development Of Dna-Based Biosensors And Antibacterial Additive, Yuqian Xing
Theses and Dissertations
In the first project, an ultrasensitive assay has been developed for the detection and determination of Hg2+(aq) based on single-particle inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (spICP-MS). In the presence of Hg2+(aq), AuNPs modified with a segment of single-stranded DNA can aggregate due to the formation of well-known thymine (T)-Hg2+-T complex. The spICP-MS can sensitively and quantitatively measure the degree of aggregation by the overall decrease in number of detected AuNPs or NP aggregates. Compared with most other Hg assays that use the same principle of aggregation-dispersion with DNA modified AuNPs, this spICP-MS-based method achieved a much lower detection limit of 0.031 …

This study investigates how photographic methods such as photo elicitation, repeat photography, and aerial photographs/maps elicit local knowledge and testify to the resilience of ranchers and farmers challenged by oil development and the alteration of their environment. Motivated by heritage, political marginalization and the pervasive loss of ruralness, the participants express several roles, among …
Empathetic Student-Centric Decisional Mindset: A Grounded Theory Study Of Teachers' Judgment Experiences, Joshua Sean Grover
Empathetic Student-Centric Decisional Mindset: A Grounded Theory Study Of Teachers' Judgment Experiences, Joshua Sean Grover
Theses and Dissertations
Teachers must have the ability to make meaningful instructional decisions within the classroom. This ability to make decisions can be identified as a potential capacity within an organization within the broad theory of professional capital (Fullan & Hargreaves, 2013). Professional capital involves three mini-frameworks: social, human, and decisional capital. Literature supports the concepts of social and human capital investment within organizations (Gilead, 2009).
The conceptual framework for this study was based on the emergent theory of decisional capital. Hargreaves (2015) stated that it is within decisional capital that the capacities of experience, challenging and stretching, reflective practice, and teacher judgment …

Petrophysical Characterization Of Reservoir And Oil Properties As A Tool For Choosing Optimal Enhanced Oil Recovery Methods: Case Study Of Dawson Bay Formation, Divide County, North Dakota, United States, Kayode James Olatunji
Theses and Dissertations
In unconventional reservoirs, i.e., shaly or tight sand formations, with low porosity and very low permeability, the oil recovery factor is low hence enhanced oil recovery is important. In the conventional reservoirs, once the primary and secondary stages of recovery are exhausted, about two-thirds of the original oil in place is left behind. Enhanced Oil Recovery aims to recover the remaining oil (Green and Wilhite, 1998). These makes the enhanced oil recovery to be of great importance. Efforts are always in place to see how the system can be improved.
The study was carried out to describe the overview of …

A Consensual Qualitative Review Exploring Mental Health Stigma And Its Impact On Psychological Help-Seeking Among Fundamentally Religious Individuals, Teresa Huff-Pomstra
Theses and Dissertations
Despite the wide range and availability of mental health (MH) treatment and resources, individuals with MH concerns often do not seek out treatment, with stigma presenting as a significant barrier to help-seeking. Various multicultural factors may interact with stigma, such as race or gender, and together may impact the HS process. One factor in particular, one’s religious beliefs, may be influential in how someone goes about addressing their MH. Religious faith holds an important place for many Americans, with 77% professing identification with some religion (Pew Research Center, 2014). The goal of this Consensual Qualitative Research project was to explore …

Alpha1a-Adrenergic Receptor Modulation Of Epileptiform Activity And Seizures, Joseph Patrick Biggane
Alpha1a-Adrenergic Receptor Modulation Of Epileptiform Activity And Seizures, Joseph Patrick Biggane
Theses and Dissertations
The research herein aimed to increase our understanding about potential roles of adrenergic receptor subtypes in epileptic seizures and seizure-like (epileptiform) phenomena. Previous observations in our laboratory led us to hypothesize that the alpha1A-adrenergic receptor is a critical component of the modulatory role of the alpha1-adrenergic receptor, and more broadly, norepinephrine, on epileptiform and seizure activity. We utilized a combination of genetic and pharmacological manipulation to elucidate specific effects of the alpha1A-adrenergic receptor subtype on altering hyperactivity in models of epilepsy, both in slice and in vivo. This research sought to address three main research questions: (1) What are the …
Pain Management Resource Guide For Caregivers Of Children With Phantom Limb Pain, Micaela Monn, Amanda Steffen
Pain Management Resource Guide For Caregivers Of Children With Phantom Limb Pain, Micaela Monn, Amanda Steffen
Occupational Therapy Capstones
Approximately 80% of children, under the age of 18, develop phantom limb pain within one year after receiving an amputation (Burgoyne, Billups, Jiron, Kaddoum, Wright, Bikhazi, Parish, & Pereiras, 2012; Krane & Heller, 1995). Research on treating phantom limb pain has been focused on the adult population and often includes the use of pharmacological interventions (Subedi & Grossberg, 2011). Because phantom limb pain can cause psychological and physical dysfunction, it can negatively impact a child's ability to engage in everyday life. Currently, no holistic treatment guides are available for caregivers to refer to when helping their child manage his or …
