The purpose of the study was to compile a history of the Women's Physical Education Department at the University of North Dakota. The historical method of research was followed with limited use of the questionnaire technique of research.
The historical method included the collection of data which were grouped into a time and subject sequence. Material x^as criticized and interpreted by accepted historical techniques. This particular method included the treatment of data for cause and effect x-diich permitted the development of patterns for testing of che hypotheses.

This study compared the physical education curricula for undergraduate, male physical education majors at colleges and universities in North Dakota with the curriculum recommended by the American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation's Professional Preparation Conference in 1962. The schools studied were Dickinson State College, Mayville State College, Minot State College, North Dakota State University, the University of North Dakota, and Valley City State College.
The latest catalogues from the schools were surveyed to determine whether an institution offered a specific course or experience, defined as a minimum of ten regular class sessions, in each of the 51 categories …

A Study Of Zone Offensive Techniques Used By Class "A" High School Basketball Coaches In North Dakota, Denis J. Limke

The purpose of this study was to determine what types of zone offense are used by Class "A" High School Basketball Coaches in North Dakota.
Thirty-seven questionnaires along with basketball court diagrams with four different zone defenses already drawn on them were sent to all Class "A" basketball coaches. Thirty-one questionnaires were received and an analysis made. Each type of offense was then drawn and explained on a court diagram.
The most common defense encountered within the last five years was the "2-1-2" zone defense.
All coaches used screens to prevent normal defensive movement and believed in movement of offensive …

The purpose of this thesis is the examination and appraisal of the rise and decline of the Nonpartisan League as a mass movement in North Dakota. Previous interpretations have been mostly economic in nature. This study interprets the League members I situation from the socio-psychological view. This thesis will attempt to show the editorial directions of leading newspapers with regard to the agrarian situation from 1916 to 1920.
The procedure involved a study of the sociological conditions of the North Dakota farmers before they accepted the Nonpartisan League ideology. The Nonpartisan Leader's editorial policy was viewed to show its interpretation …

The purpose urns to determine the offsets of physical education on ths manual and finger dexterity of sentally retarded boys. The physical education program consisted aainly of t ti- vities that inproved finger, hand, and an movements.
The fourteen boys selected for this study were divid a into two groups of seven each. The control group participated in the pro gran at the Opportunity Training Center but did not take part in the physical education program. The experimental group took pert in the training program at the Center and ware enrolled in a physical education program three hours per week. …

The unsettled status of the Red River Valley during the 1860's made inevitable the establishment of a military post near the 49th Parallel. The Minnesota Uprising in 1862 caused a band of Sioux Indians, responsible for the massacre, to flee to Canada to escape punishment by the military. In 1863, a hastily organized battalion established a temporary fort at Pembina to capture the renegades. After accomplishing its mission, the battalion abandoned the post in 1864.
With the end of the Civil War, people looked to the frontier for fertile lands to settle; but the Indian threat kept them out …

A Comparison Of Effectiveness Of Three Methods Of Throwing A Basketball For Accuracy, Richard L. Dehn

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the overhand, sldearra or underarm throw was the most accurate. Twenty boys from the Grand Forks, North Dakota, Park Board Babe Huth and Rookie League baseball programs participated in the study. The test activity Included fielding ground balls from different angles and throwing for accuracy using the three methods mentioned. A retest involving seven of the subjects was administered later to determine whether any consistency existed In the methods of throwing being used.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether a weight lifting and isometric exercise program could be developed, which would enable a golfer to increase his distance off the tee without adversely affecting the accuracy of various golf shots.
One group of ten subjects was used in this study. This group was tested in the fall of 1966 to determine the distance and accuracy with which they could hit the ball off the tee. The golfers were also tested for the degree of accuracy which they possessed in hitting the chip shot both for distance and angle deviation. They …

The purpose of this thesis was to describe and analyze the marketing practices of selected North Dakota dry cleaners. The first dry cleaning plants in the state of North Dakota are believed to have been established during the late 1890s. The data used in the study was collected from a sample of full-service dry cleaning plants in North Dakota. A mail questionnaire was employed in the survey.
The results of the survey showed that the average reporting dry cleaning plant in North Dakota was somewhat smaller than the typical dry cleaning plant in the United States. The median gross receipts …
