The Politics Of Independence: A Case Study Of Nigeria From 1960-1970, Kofi Johnson

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis is on the "Politics of Independence" in Nigeria. On October 1, I960, Nigeria gained independence as a federation with three main regions: Northern, Western and Eastern. Unruffled by the complicating factors of political disturbances or a white settler minority like Kenya, the change from the British to independent Nigeria was smooth. Two years after independence, however, the first major crisis broke out in the Western Region which consequently precipitated further crises until the federation reached a breaking point in January 1966. In that month Nigeria's government led by Balewa was toppled by a military coup.

The Effect Of Dependency On Acceptance Of Positive And Negative Generalized Personality Interpretations, Richard L. Templeton

Theses and Dissertations

The study examined the relationship between dependency and acceptance of generalized personality interpretations (both positive and negative). It was hypothesized that (1) positive interpretations would be accepted more readily than negative interpretations by both dependent and independent subjects; (2) independents and dependents would not differ in their acceptance of positive interpretations; and (3) independents would accept negative interpretations less readily than would dependents.

Results from two data analyses based on rating scales showed that positive interpretations were rated as significantly more accurate than negative interpretations. A third analysis based on subjects' open-ended responses revealed no differences between subjects who received …

Human Resource Accounting: An Aid To Managerial Decision Making, Stephen H. Vanderver

Theses and Dissertations

Human Resource Accounting, although not entirely new to the field of accounting, is finding resistance in becoming established. Certain problems must be settled before HRA can be completely accepted by accountants and managers alike.

Only a few instances are reported wherein Human Resource Accounting applications have been attempted. However, much more research and testing will be needed in · order to make HRA a fully acceptable form of accounting. Until such time, Human Resource Accounting can be effectively used …
