Problem. The study focused on a major problem in entrepreneurial research--how to describe actual entrepreneurs. It was designed to develop descriptive profiles of entrepreneurs and small business persons and to statistically test selected hypotheses about this population.Procedures. A total of 227 randomly selected managers or owner/managers were included in the study, drawn from Chambers of Commerce membership lists in North Dakota and Minnesota cities. Subjects came from firms that had 5 to 50 full-time employees. Four instruments were administered to the subjects: the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Survey of Interpersonal Values, the Survey of Personal Values, and a Demographic Survey …

The Effects Of Fly Ash And Flue-Gas Desulfurization Wastes On Groundwater Quality In A Reclaimed Lignite Strip Mine Disposal Site, Frank W. Beaver

Theses and Dissertations

Coal conversion wastes were generated at a lignite-coal-fired, steam-electric power station near Center, North Dakota, and were buried in unsaturated and saturated settings within the nearby stripmine, typical of settings used by the industry. The study ran for 8 years beginning in 1978. Approximately 240 piezometers were used for collecting groundwater level and groundwater chemistry data in the saturated zone. Pressure-vacuum lysimeters were installed to sample the unsaturated zone. Interstitial water was extracted from Shelby tube and auger samples at otherwise uninstrumented points.

More than 15,000 water-level recordings allowed precise definition of groundwater flow and occurrence at the study site. …

This document, dated November 14th, 1985, is a memorandum agreement among all parties involved in the case. The memorandum outlines a proposed resolution and agreement concerning the various levels of care moving forward, as well as the requirement for accreditation. Additionally, it includes an agreement to provide more personalized care through Individualized Health Plans (IHPs).

This study examined children's perceptions of elderly people, elderly people's perceptions of children, and changes in perceptions following either a six-week program of interaction between a children's group and a nursing home population or a six-week unit of instruction about elderly people presented to a second children's group.

Fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade children completed a 15-item pretest/posttest dealing with perceptions of "aging," personality of elderly people," "attraction to elderly people," and "stereotypes of elderly people." Selected nursing home residents completed a ten-item pretest/posttest asking them to compare personality characteristics of today's young people with characteristics the residents themselves had possessed …

An external locus of control has been determined to be detrimental to personal development in the dominant American culture. This study examines what effect participation in learning disability programs over extended time periods has on the internalization of locus of control.

Design of the Study: The subjects of this study were 165 students, 83 learning disabled and 82 normal, from five school districts located in two states in the Upper Midwest. The students were distributed in sixth, ninth, and twelfth grades. The learning disabled students needed to have experienced a minimum number of years (two years for sixth graders, four …

A Description Of Secondary School Principals In Minnesota And Their Job Satisfaction, Nicholas J. Miller

The purpose of this study was to describe the secondary principals of Minnesota and co measure their job satisfaction and the relationship of this satisfaction to selected background variables.

Questionnaires were mailed to 402 principals of schools with grades 7-12, 2, or '0 '2. Usable responses were received from 366 (91 percent; n± , r tincipals. The f irst part of the questionnaire was the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) which measured the respondents’ perceptions of their job satisfaction and yielded an intrinsic, extrinsic, and overall satisfaction score. The second part of the questionnaire collected responses to selected background variables.
