Performance Assessment Of Wastewater Treatment Processes: Evaporation, Microplastic Settling, Biosolid Air Drying And Gasification, Fangtian Li
Theses and Dissertations
The main contaminants in wastewater can be classified as suspended solid, dissolved inorganic and organic molecules. The dissolved inorganics in wastewater are salinity such as sodium chloride and sodium sulfate. Evaporation is one possible method to separate dissolved salt from high salinity wastewater, but the proper application of energy-saving evaporation depends on many conditions. Microplastic is a part of total suspended solids and can be effectively removed through settling process, and the removal efficiency can be predicted by settling model. Biological treatment eliminates organic matters and biosolids are the inevitable by-products. Air drying is a sustainable approach for reducing water …
Metamemory And Disconfirming Feedback: An Evaluation Of The Blank Lineup Procedure, James Robert Owens
Metamemory And Disconfirming Feedback: An Evaluation Of The Blank Lineup Procedure, James Robert Owens
Theses and Dissertations
Evaluating an eyewitness for their efficacy is a difficult endeavor. Traditionally, scientists have used post-identification confidence to gauge the accuracy of an eyewitness. Recently, other methods are being explored to evaluate the efficacy of an eyewitness, such as, using blank lineups, measures of metamemory, and pre-identification confidence. The present study evaluated a blank lineup procedure where participants were given disconfirming feedback when they made an incorrect decision on an initial blank lineup. Participants then moved to a target present or target absent final lineup. I sought to evaluate the potential effects of disconfirming feedback using the Eyewitness Metamemory Scale (EMS) …
Using An Airship Design To Extend A Small Uncrewed Aircraft Flight Endurance, Joseph Reilly
Using An Airship Design To Extend A Small Uncrewed Aircraft Flight Endurance, Joseph Reilly
Theses and Dissertations
One limitation of uncrewed aircraft is being unable to fly as long as needed for some operations, such as linear inspection. This research explores the flight endurance of an uncrewed aircraft using airship design. It investigates the benefits of using an airship design to increase the efficiency and extension of the flight of a small, uncrewed aerial system (sUAS). Thus, it is crucial to find ways to augment flight endurance. Two different airframes were built, and flight tested using a lifting gas to provide the lifting force and vectored thrust needed to move. Flight testing captured time in the air …
Determination Of The Water To Cement Ratio Of Fresh Concrete Using Nir Hyperspectral Imagery, Eric Edwin Wiken
Determination Of The Water To Cement Ratio Of Fresh Concrete Using Nir Hyperspectral Imagery, Eric Edwin Wiken
Theses and Dissertations
The water to cement ratio (w/c) is the primary mix design parameter that will control the strength of a concrete mix. Although a specific w/c is usually stated in concrete mix specifications, there is currently no practical test available that can quickly measure this critical property from fresh concrete. Near-infrared (NIR) Hyperspectral Imagery (HSI) can identify a material by measuring the response of the material to the incident NIR light reflecting off its surface in a range of wavelengths. This measured response can be used to differentiate between unique materials and identify variations of similar materials. This thesis studies the …

Parent’S Perspectives On The Impact Of Recurrent Otitis Media On Speech And Language Development, Andrea Rose Wilson
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study is to investigate the parent’s perspective on whether otitis media delayed their child’s speech and language development. It also focuses on intervention options and the parent’s relationship with their medical providers regarding intervention options for otitis media. Research has shown the importance of early intervention; however, when it comes to recurrent otitis media, many physicians require patients to express symptoms for extended periods before surgical solutions are considered (Granath, 2021). An electronic survey was distributed to parents and caregivers on various parenting Facebook pages. The study was open for one month before the research was …

Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Posters
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a multifactorial metabolic, endocrinologic, and gynecologic condition affecting up to 5 million women in the United States. It is a disease characterized by oligo- or anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and/or polycystic ovaries. Phenotypic presentation can include irregular menstrual cycles, obesity, hirsutism, insulin resistance, or difficulty conceiving. If untreated, PCOS can result in a sequelae of chronic disease burden. Current standard of care consists of metformin for blood sugar control, oral contraceptives for menstrual regularity, and spironolactone for androgen imbalance, but newer research is identifying gut dysbiosis as a possible contributing etiology to disease development and symptomology. This …
Minimally Invasive Therapies In The Treatment Of Arthropathy, Steven Bateman
Minimally Invasive Therapies In The Treatment Of Arthropathy, Steven Bateman
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
It is estimated that 27% of adults over 45 years of age suffer from osteoarthritis of the hip secondary to articular cartilage damage over the lifespan. Joint pain diminishes life quality, limits range of motion and overall activity, and frequently impairs basic ambulation. These functional deficits worsen the progression of comorbidities that are often referred to as lifestylerelated chronic disease as physical activity subsequently declines. This literature review explores the efficacy of minimally invasive therapies that precede and delay surgical intervention in adult patients experiencing functional limitations and pain in major joints. The study examines the effectiveness of various interventions, …

Evaluation Of Infrared Thermography Dataset For Delamination Detection In Reinforced Concrete Bridge Decks, Eberechi Ichi, Sattar Dorafshan
Civil Engineering Faculty Publications
Structural health monitoring and condition assessment of existing bridge decks is a growing challenge. Conventional manned inspections are costly, labor-intensive, and often risky to execute. Sub-surface delamination, a leading cause of deck replacement, can be autonomously and objectively detected using infrared thermography (IRT) data with developed deep learning AI models to address some of the limitations associated with manned inspection. As one of the most promising classifiers, deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) have not been utilized to their fullest potential for delamination detection, arguably due to the scarcity of realistic ground truth datasets. In this study, a common encoder–decoder semantic …
