An Analysis Of Alternative Educational Delivery Systems In Northwestern Minnesota., Adeline Katie Jaeger

Theses and Dissertations

The study purpose was to learn the perceived general desirability and also the perceived specific feasibility of nineteen alternative educational delivery ideas, many of which required inter-district cooperation. The population included individuals who had formally served the fifty-two school districts of northwestern Minnesota as representatives for areawide educational planning, or as superintendents of schools, or as both superintendents and representatives. The instrument used to gather data was based upon delivery ideas which resulted from long-range educational planning activities. These activities had been mandated by the Minnesota Legislature in 1976.Five research questions considered (1) role of the respondent during planning, (2) …

Rabbit Heart And Vascular Responses To Carotid Occlusion And Peep With Denervation And Selective Adrenergic Blockade., Mark Robert Magnusson Jan 1981

Rabbit Heart And Vascular Responses To Carotid Occlusion And Peep With Denervation And Selective Adrenergic Blockade., Mark Robert Magnusson

Theses and Dissertations

Mechanical ventilation with inspiratory positive pressure and positive, end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) has been used to improve arterial oxygenation and to re-expand and stabilize collapsed areas of the lung in patients with non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema and adult respiratory distress syndrome. However lung hyperinflation by PEEP results in decreased cardiac output and mean arterial pressure. The interaction of the mechanical and the neuroreflex effects which alter cardiovascular function during PEEP have not been examined in a study designed to evaluate the components (arterial baroreflex, cardiopulmonary mechanoreflex, and mechanical) and their integrated effects. This study examined the cardiovascular responses to 2.5 cm H(,2)O PEEP …

The evolving mind is self-determined and exercises its freedom via the scientific method. This predicates a balance of the cognitive, affective, and conative domains. …

(2) Do these strategies vary with age? (3) Is the ability to achieve distancing related to other measures of language fluency? The author created a distancing rating scale …

UND Publications

"The distribution of fishes in the James River basin in North and South Dakota and the Wild Rice, Sheyenne, and Souris River basins and Devils Lake closed basin in North Dakota was investigated in 1974 and 1975 by University of North Dakota biologists. The purpose of this study was to obtain current fish distribution records and to identify factors affecting distribution...A large water development project, the Garrison Diversion Unit, is being planned in the above basins for irrigation, municipal and industrial, and fish and wildlife purposes. The Geology And Environment Of Deposition Of The Kinneman Creek Interval, Sentinel Butte Formation (Paleocene), North Dakota, Katherine J. Logan Jan 1981

The Geology And Environment Of Deposition Of The Kinneman Creek Interval, Sentinel Butte Formation (Paleocene), North Dakota, Katherine J. Logan

Theses and Dissertations

To date, most environmental reconstructions of lignite bearing formations in western North Dakota have been done on a formational scale. The objective of this study was to investigate one of the non-lignite intervals, the Kinneman Creek Interval, directly above the strati graphically lowest lignite in the Paleocene Sentinel Butte Formation. The Kinneman Creek Interval has been recognized in the Sentinel Butte Formation throughout most of western North Dakota.

The field area is located in west-central North Dakota in Mercer, Oliver, and McLean Counties and is bisected by the Missouri River. Excellent exposures are provided in the highwalls of Baukol-Noonan, North …

Stratigraphy And Sedimentology Of The Sentinel Butte Formation (Paleocene) Near Lost Bridge, Dunn County, West-Central North Dakota, Bradley D. Nesemeier

Theses and Dissertations

The Sentinel Butte Formation (Paleocene) near Lost Bridge, Dunn County, west-central North Dakota, is 190 meters thick, and is charac terized by four main lithologies: sand, silt, clay, and lignite. The study interval is ISO meters thick, and lies between the basal sand of the formation and the Bullion Butte lignite bed, neither of which are exposed in the immediate study area. Sand, gray to yellow, makes up about 3S% of the interval studied. It occurs in tabular beds 2-18 meters thick. It is fine to very-fine, angular, and composed largely of quartz, feldspar, rock fragments, with minor amounts of …
