A Grammar Sketch Of Kinamayo, Benjamin James Schmitt
A Grammar Sketch Of Kinamayo, Benjamin James Schmitt
Theses and Dissertations
Kinamayo (Kamayo) is an Austronesian language spoken on the eastern part of the island of Mindanao, Philippines. This thesis presents a grammar sketch of the case system, a preliminary analysis of the voice system, reference phrase structure, and verb tense, modality, and aspect. The theoretical framework used for this analysis is Role and Reference Grammar. Within this framework, Kamayo is best analyzed as a symmetrical voice language in addition to having an antipassive voice. The case system of active and stative verbs observed in Kamayo supports this analysis. Reference phrases are marked by case, which helps identify syntactic arguments and …

A Qualitative Review Of The Relationship Between Safety Management Systems (Sms) And Safety Culture In Multiple-Collegiate Aviation Programs, Anthony Robert Foster, Daniel Kwasi Adjekum
Aviation Faculty Publications
Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation is currently a voluntary pursuit for collegiate aviation programs. Some programs have implemented SMS and others are beginning to consider it. An understanding of the impact of SMS on safety culture at institutions actively implementing SMS and the potential challenges posed can be useful to the entire collegiate aviation community. The safety culture perceptions across three collegiate aviation programs with varying levels and types of SMS implementation were explored through semi-structured interviews of students, certified flight instructors (CFI), and safety leaders. Emergent codes and subsequent themes derived from the semi-structured interviews suggest an apparent knowledge …

Non-Hispanic black women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancyrelated complications when compared to their Caucasian equivalents, however more than half of these deaths are considered potentially preventable. The purpose of this research and systematic literature review is to analyze why obstrictrical morbidity and mortality is significantly higher amongst women of color, and determine if racial disparities play a role. Healthcare measures used to reduce or prevent maternal morbidity and mortality are also accomplished in this article. A comprehensive literature review was performed using electronic databases, including CINAHL, PubMed, Clinical Key, Cochrane Library, and Dynamed Plus. Results …
Antimicrobial Stewardship And Its Effects On Resistant Organisms, John D. Seifert
Antimicrobial Stewardship And Its Effects On Resistant Organisms, John D. Seifert
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
Antimicrobial stewardship has been found to have an impact on resistant organisms, but it has been unclear the importance of how strong those recommendations should be and if more strict or numerous guidelines equals fewer or less resistant organisms. “Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), an organizational or system-wide health-care strategy, is designed to promote, improve, monitor, and evaluate the rational use of antimicrobials to preserve their future effectiveness, along with the promotion and protection of public health. (Majumder et al., 2020)” In reviewing recent peer-reviewed research it can be shown that medical facilities that utilize antimicrobial stewardship guidelines when prescribing antibiotics have …

Non-Pharmacologic And Alternative Management Of Chronic Pain In Multiple Sclerosis, Kylie Patian
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
Chronic pain associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) is prevalent in many phenotypes. Pharmacologic therapy of this pain often fails to provide analgesia. This research is intended to determine which nonpharmacological interventions may be recommended for treatment of chronic extremity pain in individuals with MS. This research was primarily conducted through a comprehensive literature review of publications within the past five years on three databases, PubMed, EMBase, and CINAHL. Additional resources were added from “similar” sections of the databases, directly from included studies, and when used to inform background information, for a total of 26 resources. Studies were excluded if not …
How Does Access To Primary Care Affect The Latino Population, Brandon Harthan
How Does Access To Primary Care Affect The Latino Population, Brandon Harthan
Physician Assistant Scholarly Project Papers
Healthcare disparities by race or ethnicity across the United States are becoming more evident as the population continues to grow, none being more evident than that of the Latino population. The purpose of this research is to determine the effects that access to primary healthcare has on the comorbidity and mortality of the Latino population. Much of the research supports the theory that Latino’s are at greater risk of comorbidity and mortality from diabetes, chronic liver disease, and cirrhosis due to their decreased access to primary healthcare services. However, evidence also supports the “Hispanic Mortality Paradox” in which Latinos have …

Interventions Pertinent To Children Of Incarcerated Parents, Adam K. Matz, Roni Mayzer, Mandy Herberholz
Criminal Justice Faculty Publications
One in 12 children will have a parent incarcerated at some point in their lifetime, with a staggering rate of one in four for African American children (Wildeman et al., 2018). Though the incarcerated populations have been in decline across the United States in the past decade (Carson, 2020), its impact still dwarfs that of most other countries (Coyle et al., 2016). The long-term residual consequences of the country’s imprisonment binge are likely to burden later generations through a myriad of social and economic disadvantages that extend through the children of today’s prisoners. Consequences may manifest in terms of social …
