One of the most persistant weeds found in New Mexico lawns is the common dandelion (Taraxacum officinale Weber). In Albuquerque, where this study was made, most lawns are of Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.), a poor competitor against the inroads of the dandelion. However, some lawns are of Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon pers.), which, with its thick and vigorous turf, is a better competitor with the dandelion. The writer has observed, as Dittmer also found, that the turf of Bermuda grass on the campus of the University of New Mexico will crowd out or prevent the entrance of dandelions, while …

An Investigation Of The Stomach Contents Of Micropterus Dolomieu, Richard Evan Horrall

It was the purpose of this study to scientifically analyze the stomach contents of Micropterus dolomieu. The study was based upon 168 stomachs taken from various sized fish caught by hook and line from the streams of Northern Illinois.

The Operating Efficiency Of The Albuquerque Sewage Disposal Plant From A Bacteriological Standpoint, Rebecca Jane Menaul

This study of sewage disposal plants has traced the development of sewage plants from an ancient and simple origin to the highly complex plants of today. Sewage was first disposed of by diluting the waste products into a large stream of water or by merely burying the sewage. As populations have increased, earlier methods have of necessity been discarded and a gradual evolution in the efficiency of methods of disposal has taken place, until today a modern plant may be operated in such a way as to leave the sewage free from all pathogenic bacteria and parasites.
