This paper builds upon the foundational advancements introduced in [14, 25–27]. The Neutrosophic Set offers a versatile mathematical framework for addressing uncertainty through its three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Extensions such as the Hyperneutrosophic Set and the SuperHyperneutrosophic Set have been recently proposed to tackle increasingly sophisticated and multidimensional problems. Detailed formal definitions of these concepts can be found in [20]. In this paper, we extend various specialized classes of Neutrosophic Sets—namely, the Support Neutrosophic Set, Neutrosophic Intuitionistic Set (distinct from the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set), Neutrosophic Paraconsistent Set, Neutrosophic Faillibilist Set, Neutrosophic Paradoxist Set, Neutrosophic Pseudo-Paradoxist Set, Neutrosophic …

This paper delves into the advancements of classical set theory to address the complexities and uncertainties inherent in real-world phenomena. It highlights three major extensions of traditional set theory - Fuzzy Sets [288], Neutrosophic Sets [237], and Plithogenic Sets [243] - and examines their further generalizations into Hyperfuzzy [106], HyperNeutrosophic [90], and Hyperplithogenic Sets [90]. Building on previous research [83], this study explores the potential applications of HyperNeutrosophic Sets and SuperHyperNeutrosophic Sets across various domains. Specifically, it extends f undamental c oncepts such as Neutrosophic Logic, Cognitive Maps, Graph Neural Networks, Classifiers, and Triplet Groups through these advanced set structures …

Some Graph Parameters For Superhypertree-Width And Neutrosophictree-Width, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
Graph characteristics are often studied through various parameters, with ongoing research dedicated to exploring these aspects. Among these, graph width parameters—such as treewidth—are particularly important due to their practical applications in algorithms and real-world problems. A hypergraph generalizes traditional graph theory by abstracting and extending its concepts [77]. More recently, the concept of a SuperHyperGraph has been introduced as a further generalization of the hypergraph. Neutrosophic logic [133], a mathematical framework, extends classical and fuzzy logic by allowing the simultaneous consideration of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity within an interval. In this paper, we explore Superhypertree-width, Neutrosophic treewidth, and t-Neutrosophic tree-width.

Body-Mind-Soul-Spirit Fluidity is a concept rooted in psychology and phenomenology, offering significant insights into human decision-making and well-being. Similarly, in social analysis and social sciences, frameworks such as PDCA, DMAIC, SWOT, and OODA have been established to enable structured evaluation and effective p roblem-solving. Furthermore, in phenomenology and social sciences, various logical systems have been developed to address specific objectives and practical applications. This paper extends these concepts using the Neutrosophic theory, revisiting their mathematical definitions and exploring their properties. The Neutrosophic Set, an extension of the Fuzzy Set, is a highly flexible framework that has been widely studied in …

The global economy's reliance on energy supply and distribution necessitates a shift towards clean and renewable energy sources. This article explores how the economies of energy producers and consumers can be better modeled through the lens of autopoiesis, a concept developed by Humberto Maturana and further elaborated by Fritjof Capra (cf. Web of Life). By viewing energy systems as self-producing and self-maintaining entities, we can gain insights into the dynamics of energy transition in developing countries and identify strategies for fostering sustainable and resilient energy ecosystems.

Sleep monitoring plays a crucial role in understanding and managing various health conditions, including sleep disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health. Traditional sleep monitoring methods rely on Electroencephalography (EEG) and Polysomnography (PSG) in clinical settings. However, these methods are expensive, difficult to administer, and unsuitable for home-based monitoring. In recent years, photoplethysmogram (PPG) has emerged as a promising noninvasive technology that is widely used in wearable devices and holds great potential for sleep assessment. Yet, most current sleep monitoring methods rely on deep learning models, which are inherently "black-box" and challenging in the clinical decision-making process. In this paper, we …

In the realm of sample survey research, the classical statistics approach primarily deals with precise and definitive types of data to estimate population parameters when additional information is available. However, this approach fails when faced with data indeterminacies. To address such ambiguities, neutrosophic statistics emerges as an extension of both fuzzy and classical statistics. Thus, in light of the challenges posed by indeterminacy in sampling, we have introduced a proficient neutrosophic class of estimators, with and without Searls technique (optimization tool) for estimating the mean utilizing additional (ancillary) information under neutrosophic simple random sampling (NeSRS). The expression for the Bias …

This study addresses the ambiguities in empirical findings on artificial intelligence (AI) in education by proposing a new methodological framework that combines neutrosophic stance detection and Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). This approach explicitly models truth, indeterminacy, and falsity, allowing for the synthesis of contradictory research. The authors evaluated four causal hypotheses related to AI-based learning, using a survey of 24 university participants to explore the necessary conditions for perceived learning improvements. The results indicate that the digital divide is a perfectly necessary condition for effective AI-enhanced learning. The findings also reveal that AI feedback and AI platform use …

Philosophy has always tried to illuminate the complexity of existence, but often faced its own paradoxes. The emergence of philosophical schools and concepts, along with their arguments, reflect the dynamic interaction of ideas. This short note explores some nuanced principles governing philosophical thought, summarized in the proposed “philosophical formulas.” These formulas are intended to mathematically and conceptually express the tensions, complementarities, and movements intrinsec in a given philosophical system.

Competition Super-Hypergraphs: Revealing Hierarchical Competition In Real-World Networks, Takaaki Fujita, Florentin Smarandache
Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications
Graph theory provides a powerful language for modeling pairwise connections through vertices and edges [9, 20]. Hypergraphs generalize this idea by permitting hyperedges that join any number of vertices simultaneously [7], while super-hypergraphs iterate the Power-set operation to capture multi-level, hierarchical relationships among hyperedges [40, 22]. A competition hypergraph associates each prey species with a hyperedge containing all its predators, thereby encoding multi-way competition in ecological networks. In this work, we introduce the competition super-hypergraph, which lifts the competition concept to higher tiers of aggregation. We present its formal definition, explore theoretical properties, and illustrate its practical use in real-world …

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for accurate and rapid diagnostic tools to assist clinical decision-making. Conventional deep learning models for COVID-19 detection in Chest X-Ray (CXR) images face challenges in poor generalization across imaging conditions and high computational demands. To address these issues, this study proposes CviTLNN, a novel hybrid model combining Vision Transformers (ViTs) and Liquid Neural Networks (LNNs) to improve feature extraction and classification. Specifically, CviTLNN employs a ViT with 24 transformer encoder blocks for efficient extraction of spatial features. The self-attention mechanism of ViTs effectively captures global and local dependencies in CXR images. Furthermore, …

This Will Not Be Generative, Sehrish Naudhani
Intersections: Critical Issues in Education
This Will Not Be Generative by Dixa Ramírez-D’Oleo critiques Western feminist narratives, revealing how concepts like generativity and symbiosis often disguise violence against Black and Indigenous communities. Through analysis of works by feminists such as Donna Haraway and references to films like Get Out and Midsommar, Ramírez-D’Oleo argues that Black and Indigenous lives are cyclically exploited to uphold white supremacy. Rather than depicting these communities as mere victims, she emphasizes their resilience and acts of resistance. This review underscores Ramírez-D’Oleo's call to rethink the narratives shaping our understanding of race, ecology, and feminism, making it a critical read for …
A Multimodal Examination Of Altered Reward Processing In Anhedonia, Christopher J.H. Pirrung
A Multimodal Examination Of Altered Reward Processing In Anhedonia, Christopher J.H. Pirrung
Psychology ETDs
Anhedonia refers to a complex deficit in depression, characterized by deficits in reward processing. An EEG signal of reward, the Reward Positivity, has been proposed as a potential biomarker of depressive symptoms. In this investigation, we define generative neural sources of the Reward Positivity using MEG and examine the source level deficits of this signal associated with anhedonia. A composite measure of anhedonia was defined in this sample, combining several self-report measures of anhedonia. Ventral hypoactivation was present in depressed individuals alongside a counterintuitive positive correlation with anhedonia. An independent study using fMRI in the same subjects found similar, but …
Forest Response To Increasingly Frequent Fire And Drought Disturbances, Kevin G. Willson
Forest Response To Increasingly Frequent Fire And Drought Disturbances, Kevin G. Willson
Biology ETDs
Changes in fire regimes and drought intensity have increased fire and drought severity in southwestern forests, decreasing forest resilience to recent changes in climate. As tree response and regeneration after disturbance are critical for forest persistence, this dissertation assesses ponderosa pine regeneration patterns after high-severity fire, tree growth response to the reintroduction of frequent-fire, and tree growth response to multiyear droughts in fire-maintained and fire-excluded forests. We found that high-severity patch locations were more likely to regenerate when positioned downwind, downslope, and near intact forest. Trees had similar growth responses to first-entry fires and reburns following long-term fire-exclusion. After experiencing …

Tnf Prevents Establishment Of Anti-Tumor Immunity And Elucidates Toxicities Following Myxoma Virus Based Oncolytic Virotherapy, Miriam Beatriz Valenzuela Cardenas
Biomedical Sciences ETDs
Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF) can lead to tumor regression through its direct cytolytic activity, yet it has also been implicated to facilitate tumor progression. This scenario complicates the efficacy and applicability of TNF based therapeutics as treatment for malignancies. In the context of oncolytic virotherapy (OV) which uses replicating viruses to treat tumors and acts by triggering production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, exploring such mechanisms is vital. Here we show that a Myxoma based oncolytic virus (vPD1/IL12) can induce large amounts TNF. The presence of TNF in the context of vPD1/IL12 plays a detrimental role both for tumor regression by …

Targeting Myeloid Cell Iron Metabolism In Salmonella-Induced Colitis, Mariella Arcos Padilla
Biomedical Engineering ETDs
Salmonellosis is a severe infection caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, leading to significant global morbidity and mortality.
Previous studies have shown that mice lacking the iron storage protein ferritin heavy chain (FTH1) in myeloid cells exhibit worsened Salmonella infection. Nuclear receptor co-activator 4 (NCOA4) directs FTH1 autophagic degradation to release iron from storage during conditions of low iron. However, the role of myeloid NCOA4 in regulating bacterial infections remains unclear.
Here, we found that myeloid NCOA4 deficiency augments spleen iron levels and increases cellular iron accumulation, oxidative stress, and ferroptosis in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) cells. This deficiency also …

Mechanical Engineering ETDs
Piezoelectric micro ultrasound transducers (PMUT array) are pivotal in MEMS applications. They typically operate in the fundamental (0,1) acoustic mode and are not significantly researched for higher modes (0,2) and (0,3). Similarly, vibrating mesh atomizers (VMAs) demand the second (0,2) mode and third mode (0,3) for effective aerosol generation, highlighting the need for optimized electrode configurations—a relatively unexplored area. This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of how electrode designs influence PMUT performance in the (0,2) mode for VMA applications.
Utilizing COMSOL multiphysics finite element modeling (FEM) with residual stress considerations alongside experimental validation, we demonstrate that optimized electrode configurations …
The Social Matter Of Opioids: Glitches In Immunity Beyond The Human, Nathan A. Leach
The Social Matter Of Opioids: Glitches In Immunity Beyond The Human, Nathan A. Leach
American Studies ETDs
The Social Matter of Opioids: Glitches in Immunity Beyond the Human examines the contemporary opioid crisis and its relationship to capitalism, imperialism, and biomedicine. This dissertation also considers how the twin processes of crisis and racialization relate to how human-opioid entanglements perform and transgress normative anthropological assumptions of difference. Through theories of biopolitics, Black feminism, queer of color critique, and psychoanalytic insight, I argue for a more critical account of the entanglement of humans with opioids where processes of capitalist and imperial crisis produce novel forms of social ontology. I substantiate this by examining speculative tissue economies, interspecies relationality, draconian …

Hypoxia-Inducible Factor 3Α1'S Role In Promoting Iron Loading, Tumorigenesis, And Metastasis In Colorectal Cancer, Luke B. Villareal
Biomedical Sciences ETDs
The interplay between hypoxia and iron metabolism drives colorectal cancer (CRC) progression. This dissertation investigates hypoxia-inducible factor 3α1 (HIF-3α1), a protein linked to poor CRC outcomes, focusing on its roles in metastasis, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and iron loading via transferrin receptor (TFRC). HIF-3α1 promotes CRC cell migration by upregulating zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 2 (ZEB2) and suppressing N-myc downstream-regulated gene 1 (NDRG1), while TFRC-mediated iron accumulation supports tumor growth and survival. Iron chelation reduced EMT markers, migration, and tumor growth, highlighting iron's critical role. Additionally, HIF-3α1-induced TFRC expression altered nucleotide synthesis enzymes carbamoyl-phosphate synthetase-aspartate transcarbamoylase-dihydroorotase (CAD) and phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate …

Pink1-Deficiency Facilitates Mitochondrial Iron Accumulation And Colon Tumorigenesis, Mariella Arcos, Lavanya Goodla, Hyeoncheol Kim, Sharina P. Desai, Rui Liu, Kunlun Yin, Zhaoli Liu, David R. Martin, Xiang Xue
Pathology Research and Scholarship
Mitophagy, the process by which cells eliminate damaged mitochondria, is mediated by PINK1 (PTEN induced kinase 1). Our recent research indicates that PINK1 functions as a tumor suppressor in colorectal cancer by regulating cellular metabolism. Interestingly, PINK1 ablation activated the NLRP3 (NLR family pyrin domain containing 3) inflammasome, releasing IL1B (interleukin 1 beta). However, inhibiting the NLRP3-IL1B signaling pathway with an IL1R (interleukin 1 receptor) antagonist or NLRP3 inhibitor did not hinder colon tumor growth after PINK1 loss. To identify druggable targets in PINK1-deficient tumors, ribonucleic acid sequencing analysis was performed on colon tumors from pink1 knockout and wild-type mice. …
